The Secret Wood Northumberland

Very nice location in the heart of Northumberland and some lovely little walks onsite.

A few things could have been a bit cleaner, cushions had a few what appear to be dog hairs on, the radiator in the bathroom could do with replacing as it is rusty, chewed up dog bone found in the bedroom and a few stains on crockery.

Location was excellent close to coast & all major visitor attractions also close to local amenities. Site was excellent incredibly quiet given the number of people staying. Accommodation was good, but needs some improvement modest improvements.

Property didn’t have level access which was an inconvenience. Property needs updating especially bathroom and kitchen which are starting to show age related

the caravan is in a nice location with a lovely interior. it was cleaned to a good standard and the seating area outside was a nice addition the two nights that we were here the site was very quiet we would consider staying here again

the shower door does not close as it seemed to be the incorrect one the shower hose leaked so most of the pressure was lost we did see this on the reviews but assumed it would have been fixed. this is the only thing that let the stay down and if repaired it would be one of oyut top choices for a return visit

Our double bed was very comfy and having 2 pillows for each person was great. There were 4 blankets for 4 people which were very handy. Bathroom very warm. Heating was working well. Gas cooker easy to operate. Dish drainer was provided which is great and most places don't provide it. Interesting house decor. Quite a few places to visit by car, a wooden play park on site. Village park for a walk (not exceptional but within reasonable distance from the caravan site).

No little shop on site. The nearest shop for milk , sugar and bread is about 7 miles away. Both kids' bedding had stains. TV didn't always work. As this is a typical caravan (and not a log cabin) you hear and feel the wind all too well even though the wind may not be all that strong if you are outside. It was hard to fall asleep on the second night with all that noise from trees next to the caravan. No sugar provided (tea and instant coffee and latte was there). The ceramic liquid soap container in the bathroom was empty. I used dish soap liquid to top it up. I hate that the towels were left on the toilet seat. No idea how often that seat is being cleaned. Why not leave it on beds like other places do. Much more hygienic. We also received a weird number of towels for 4 people: 4 bath towels and 3 hand towels. The shower door was very hard to close and it didn't stay in place so it was part folded making less space for you inside the tiny shower. I was afraid to break it or to get stuck. For that reason I didn't send kids for shower. I was expecting lots of water outside the shower as they would struggle to close it as I did. The heater in the bathroom is so rusty; it really needs replacing. It felt quite yucky to put towels there to warm up/dry. Toilet seat was purple from some cleaning product. Weird. Lots of wine glasses, but only 2 for water. Not sure who hang the towel ring but it is way way way too low. You have to bend over to dry hands, but there is place to hang it at a logical level. Cooking pots were quite yucky. Some were dirty and all had nonstick coating peeling off, or scrached off. No colander and no food cover for the microwave, so the microwave got way too rusty inside (not safe), though it looks pretty good and modern outside. There is no dishwasher so some dishes weren't clean enough as they were hand-washed. No hair dryer, even though the listing mentioned it. Not suitable for a long stay as no washing machine.
