The location is absolutely stunning and easily the best thing about this apartment. You step outside the door and are immediately immersed in Annecy’s beautiful Old Town, with lots of restaurants, cafés, shops and a supermarket very close by. It was perfect for exploring everything on foot. Check-in was easy, and communication with the host was smooth, friendly and helpful. We also really appreciated having two separate sleeping rooms, which is convenient when travelling with a friend.

Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing, mainly because of the cleanliness, maintenance and sleeping conditions. The whole apartment felt quite dirty and poorly maintained. There were visible stains on the furniture and walls, and even the flooring between rooms was damaged, with gaps and broken edges. The shower in particular did not feel properly cleaned — the grout, walls, edges and door need a thorough scrub and sanitisation, and some areas looked like they may have mildew/mold. The bathroom and shower are also extremely narrow. I am only 165 cm and around 55 kg and could barely move comfortably in there, so I can imagine this being very difficult for a larger person. Neither bed was comfortable. The larger mattress was extremely hard, while the smaller one was so soft that you sink/fall toward the middle. The bedding was mismatched rather than normal clean hotel-style linen, the towels looked very old, and the sheets in the larger bedroom had an unpleasant damp smell, like laundry that had been left sitting in the washing machine too long. Both bedrooms felt stuffy because there are no proper exterior windows, and the old floors are extremely squeaky. You can also hear the squeaking from people walking in the neighbouring/upper areas, which made sleeping even more difficult. The biggest surprise was the small bedroom. It is essentially part of a laundry/storage area, with the washing machine and shelving directly beside it and separated by a curtain. When we checked in at around 4pm, there was still someone else’s laundry drying there. That really did not make the space feel ready or properly prepared for new guests. Overall, the apartment needs a serious deep clean, replacement of some linens/towels and mattresses, and quite a bit of maintenance. The photos may make it look cosy and rustic, but in person it felt worn, cramped and unhygienic rather than charming. I would not stay here for that price again.
