Church House

Absolutely loved the house - couldn't believe the amount of space! A room for both kids AND separate rooms for tv watching and playing games/chatting. (We felt like the Simpsons on the big sofa all watching tv side-by-side!) Easy directions for the dishwasher and super comfy beds. We were a bit worried about the lack of guaranteed parking, but the free car park was fine. Loved Wirksworth too - a perfect base for exploring the Peak District (also managed to make a day trip to Lincoln!)

This is really picky - and entirely my own fault as I didn't bother asking the owner! - but it wasn't clear what to do with recycling, so I brought it home :-) My son reckoned the shower wasn't working properly. (Which I'm sure someone would have dealt with if I had actually mentioned it, but I was too busy relaxing and enjoying my holiday - and there was a bath, anyway)

Great location, very central, a short walk to restaurants, pubs, cinema and walks. A lovely warm and cosy house.

Difficulty parking.

We had a lovely 2 nights stay at the charming Church House. It's a quiet and conveniently located and with walking distance to a French & Italian restaurants, a few takeaways and 2 cafes in the town. The Dining Room also offered great selection of breakfast, so we had no need to cook. Parking was also not an issue.

Bathroom on the ground floor, but it was fine, considering the age of the house. The house could have been a little cleaner The house is rather cold so would advise to wear layers.

Lovely period house in a great location right next to the beautiful church (lovely hearing the chimes) and very close to the town centre with interesting shops, cafes etc. Loved the eclectic mix of furniture, framed artworks, stained glass window, little garden and layout of the house. It really is a lovely cosy house to stay in and perfectly located. Comfy sofas, beds and clean bedding.

Sadly, need to say that a full clean is overdue - lots of dust and old cobwebs, dirty bin with no bin bags, old condiments in cupboards, old pans which were a bit grubby. Lovely vintage chair in living room, stripped with exposed horsehair- not useable but will be great once upholstered. Sink coming away from the wall in upstairs loo, holes in bedroom wall where plaster broken away. It is an old period house with lots of charm and features, just needs some TLC and longer spent on cleaning - otherwise a great place to stay and would come back.
