The perfect base for exploring Derbyshire.
Great location, very central, a short walk to restaurants, pubs, cinema and walks. A lovely warm and cosy house.
Difficulty parking.

Very nice
We had a lovely 2 nights stay at the charming Church House. It's a quiet and conveniently located and with walking distance to a French & Italian restaurants, a few takeaways and 2 cafes in the town. The Dining Room also offered great selection of breakfast, so we had no need to cook. Parking was also not an issue.
Bathroom on the ground floor, but it was fine, considering the age of the house. The house could have been a little cleaner The house is rather cold so would advise to wear layers.

Quirky, comfy, period house in great location but in need of some TLC and a more thorough clean.
Lovely period house in a great location right next to the beautiful church (lovely hearing the chimes) and very close to the town centre with interesting shops, cafes etc. Loved the eclectic mix of furniture, framed artworks, stained glass window, little garden and layout of the house. It really is a lovely cosy house to stay in and perfectly located. Comfy sofas, beds and clean bedding.
Sadly, need to say that a full clean is overdue - lots of dust and old cobwebs, dirty bin with no bin bags, old condiments in cupboards, old pans which were a bit grubby. Lovely vintage chair in living room, stripped with exposed horsehair- not useable but will be great once upholstered. Sink coming away from the wall in upstairs loo, holes in bedroom wall where plaster broken away. It is an old period house with lots of charm and features, just needs some TLC and longer spent on cleaning - otherwise a great place to stay and would come back.

Pleasent property right in town centre.
Very short walk to shops and restaurants/pubs/cafes. Convenient location for visiting all things we wanted to see. Lounge and beds comfortable had all facilities we needed.
One double room has no toilet on same level so had to use stairs to get to toilet. If you have mobility issues stairs are quite steep. Parking outside property no always possible car park short distance away.

Beautiful cosy cottage in a great location.
The property was just lovely with more space than we expected. it was lovely and warm with a great shower! The location is perfect and we had a lovely stay. Thank you.
My only negative feedback was that the cleaning team arrived half an hour before our checkout time, with the expectation they could start cleaning the property. We asked them to wait until we had left which was at checkout time. I think it would be more appropriate for this to be arranged for once the guests have left.

A pleasant stay
The house was clean and tastefully decorated, with nods to its namesake and its proximity to the church, such as a beautiful stained glass window on the staircase. There were thoughtful provisions such as a selection of teabags, milk, and biscuits left for us on arrival. The courtyard garden was a calm space to sit outwith table and chairs (and even fire bowl if you wanted to use it). The location is excellent, in the centre of Wirksworth, and we found that parking on the road, just outsidewas not a problem.
-The upstairs toilet room badly needs updating. There is a note telling you to press the toilet flush firmly 3 times, but sometimes even 6 times was not enough to get it to flush. The space was so tight that the door wouldn't close when seated on the toilet due to knees being in the way; a space-saver toilet is needed for this room. The hand basin is not secured to the wall. To use the basin you need to squash yourself up against the toilet bowl. You can't use wash your face, because there is a shelf directly in between the sink and your face. To use the property's bathroom, which is on the ground floor, you need to go down two steep flights of stairs, so the upstairs toilet facility really needs addressing. -The stairs were unusually steep which was difficult for the two older members of our group. -The duvets were too thick for mid-summer, and because the windows were limited to opening only a couple of inches, it was far too hot upstairs at night.

A very comfortable relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings.
The location was excellent, very handy for the shops and was lovely to hear the church bells ring although it was very subtle . The beds were very comfy , we felt right at home , the kitchen was very well equipped too . A home from home !
Couldn’t find the dustbin and parking close by was a bit tricky , it was very cold in the house on arrival .

Very good
Overall, it was a nice feel to the place, quiet and easy to locate. We managed to get parked right outside of Church House, so that was a bonus. The beds were very comfy and everything was there that we needed in terms of kitchen/cooking equipment/extra bedding etc. The check-in process was really easy and clear, and the owners contacted us on the day to give instructions. The local fish & chip shop was also good and there is a pub which is a very short distance away from the house. We had a good time there. thanks
In order for me to have given this a 10, I would say that some small areas in the house need a little tlc and possibly modernisation. ie decor, upstairs toilet, a lock/latch on the bedroom door (2nd floor) and it was a tad cold in the house at times, but we couldn't seem to alternate the temperature guage. The radiators did cone on through the night... That said, these factors did not impact our stay at all. It is just an observation.
