Quinta da Bella Vista, Private Historic Estate, Sintra

This is an absolutely stunning property and we had an amazing stay. The staff was welcoming and the attention to detail and responsiveness was impeccable. The breakfast was excellent and being able to have it at the main home was a special experience. The main home and guest houses are beautifully decorated and had everything needed to make for a very comfortable stay.

It is located in a restricted entry zone and to get to and from the property to many of the Sintra castles and sites takes time and the taxis service can get pricey. There are no restaurants or eateries nearby, so Uber or Glovo are the only options for dinner, which must be picked up at the entry gate, which was all fine and manageable, but know that options are limited.

The pre-check-in and check-in experience was flawless. Dinesh was at hand to assist us and was courteous and accommodating. The location, the layout, and the views are stunning. As travellers to be accommodated in the Safari Suite was a funny coincidence. The room was very well appointed, not huge but adequate. Our room was directly opposite the great walnut tree with lovely seating arrrangements that invite to linger and read or drink a glass of Portugal's finest or even both. The pool directly below the terrace was secluded and private.

There is no air conditioning provided in the room, which actually was not a problem due to the cool air coming up from the sea. However, the heating unit that looks like an air conditioner actually disappointed due to this misunderstanding. This was cleared up by the gracious and very kind owner, Alex, over breakfast.

The Property is stunning & beautifully maintained. Gardens are lovely and a joy to walk around.

The property is ultimately a ‘venue’ for weddings, functions & large private parties. However they make the villa earn its keep by having overnight guests. Unfortunately it’s not perfect. There are no facilities for guests. The advertised mini bar is not available in room. (Our fridge was not working & was definitely not stocked. ) no bar on the premises though we were comped a bottle of wine (warm) . Perhaps an honesty bar would work? No food in the afternoon or evening unless you dine out or order Uber eats!!. Breakfast however was lovely at the Main property.

The property is excellently kept. Everybody is extremely helpful. A very private, secluded atmosphere. Nice pool, does not smell of chloride. Perfectly beautiful, perfect climate. The apartment very homely and cosy, well equipped.

Driving there is a bit of a challenge.
