Rural getaway with a view - Old Spout Barn

Fantastic rural location with breathtaking views over the Fells. The cottage was within easy reach of Sedbergh (5 min drive, about 45 min walk) which had a good range of shops, pubs etc. Lots of fabulous walks from your doorstep or from Sedbergh itself. The cottage was really well equipped for our stay. If you get a clear night don't forget to go outside and look up at the stars!

Nothing - loved it all! Maybe could have done with a couple of little toiletries in the bathroom. And some information/maps of the walks directly from the cottage but these are just little suggestions.

It’s location is amazing. Everything is there that you need and the host is contactable easily. Can’t wait to come back

The view from the living room window is wonderful. The bedrooms were perfect. The WiFi worked well all the time. Never had a kitchen that well equipped : good casseroles, pans,... Oven, microwave, cooking range,refrigerator, deep fridge, washing machine and dish washer : it is all available. Lots of walking routes close to the house and shopping facilities nearby. For us this was the perfect holiday location. The Dales are wonderful.

Great quiet location with easy off road parking. Large sized double bedroom.

No welcome folder with instructions/equipment manuals, how to recycle or when the bin collection day is. No guest comments book. Handles missing on two kitchen cupboard doors/drawers and loose on other drawers. All crockery very old and scratched. Fridge door missing lower tray so had to store milk in the main section. Kettle lid poorly fitting and the handle was over the lid so steam escaped when you poured the water. We had to wait until the water had cooled slightly to be able to safely pour the water. Old condiments etc. left by previous guests? No tumble dryer and no outside clothes line/rotary dryer meant drying clothes was time consuming. No step stool to reach high shelves in kitchen or to open the only window in the living room. No clock in kitchen/living room. No pictures on the walls made the place look less homely. No windows that could be opened in the downstairs twin bedroom. All bedding in made of either 50/50 polycotton or 100% polyester which doesn't breathe, also there was no seperate sheet just a duvet. The hot weather this summer led to uncomfortable nights. Ended up buying 100% cotton pillowcases to get a better nights sleep. Lots of old damp stains and areas of flaking paint, especially by the main door made the decor look tired. This could be a great getaway if some basic upkeep and TLC was afforded to the place.
