The host is super friendly and hospitable. I felt very welcomed to the space. The hostel is a 100-year old building, which makes the experience very authentic. The cleanliness is impeccable, it is something you would not expect from a historical building. Gosh, the interior smells so nice too - they burn incense at the door front. I love that when hostel provides hair curler, straightener, and blow dryer, and this hostel does! I appreciate how the guests who stayed at this hostel were very quiet and respectful to one another's personal space. I stayed in a mixed-dormitory - I felt very safe and comfortable. The cube was spacious and it has a decent privacy curtain. The whole experience was exceptional and super affordable! I'd definitely come back at my next visit in Matsumoto :)

This place was one of the greatest places I’ve been in Japan. The owner is so kind and generous- like a family. He’s very welcoming and big hearted. I met there great people and I appreciate it . The house is an old miso factory house which makes it feel cozy and authentic since it’s built more than 100 years ago, so the wood has genuine stains and you can see the passing of the time on it. The amenities is very clean and convenient- you have a kitchen full with everything you need to prepare a meal. And a bus station just outside the front door. I truly recommend this place and appreciate the good time I spend there.

The location was perfect, easily reached by bus and walking distance from the castle. One of the hosts welcomed me with the biggest smile!! And the common area was comfortable and well-stocked, and everything is kept very clean. Unrelated to the hostel but a lot of many kind people come here to stay.

The futons were a bit too thin for me, and there were no lockers for valuables. I also missed something like coathangers or hooks to hang up coats or towels to dry. And there wasn’t a lot of space in the bathroom to put toilettries and the like. There was also a stone beam right above my bed that I bumped my head into about five times 🙈 but the building is 100 years old so that just happens!
