It was relatively easy to access the keys from the lock box as per instruction via e-brochure / offered, although slightly confusing as the old, broken box remains in situ below the one holding the keys.
Took us a few minutes in lashing rain to work it out & gain access.
It may help if the old box could be removed - also more aesthetically pleasing.
The location is fabulous - right in the heart of Alnwick. Literally stepping out of the door takes you into the hub of the community where you will find everything you could possibly want - lovely shops, cafes, bars and restaurants: something for everyone.
Barters Books is within walking distance and it’s only a short journey to the castle and gardens.
It helps that there is a supermarket nearby - disappointed that there was no ‘welcome pack’, with basics - we had to find the supermarket before we could settle in.
We noted a jar on a shelf with an inch of solidified instant coffee….
The cottage is lovely and very spacious, comfortable with stylish on trend interiors and accessories.
Lovely bright kitchen, though we did not cook during our stay, preferring to visit the lovely restaurants.
While we could not fault the cleanliness of the cottage, there were many areas which could be improved with much more attention to detail - mould around shower grouting and many other shabby elements throughout.
Disappointing considering tariff paid.
As above, our stay would have been much more pleasant if much more attention had been paid to detail.
A small welcome pack is what we imagined we would receive - we have at most other similar places we have stayed.
Aesthetically, the shabbiness of some areas was disappointing. Shower mould, very damaged paintwork to woodwork skirtings, lounge / kitchen / living area concrete floor etc., non functioning sash windows with folded cardboard stuck in frames to prevent opening, etc.,
This made us feel that the hosts do not consider that this lack of attention to detail sends out a negative / uncaring message to their guests……
Great visit to Alnwick and surrounding areas though!

Beautifully decorated cottage in heart of Alnwick
Shower is open sided so floor can get pretty wet, move the toilet roll!

Great Location, great bathroom, main bedroom decent size, parking.
No shower gel, had to buy some, floor downstairs paint flaking all over, needs some hardwood flooring, the round rug under dining table, all worn and turned up, bed double, have a super king at home, bedroom window rattles when walking , sash windows need replaced, you can hear everything , I have an old graded property much larger, and not fair to compare as ours is immaculate and fully renovated, but it makes a difference flooring and double glazing. Stains on bedroom carpet too.
