About this house rental

Welcome to The Top of the Town! Our large, historic retreat located at the peaceful southern gateway of the New River Gorge National Park. Perfectly curated for up to 6 adults, outdoor enthusiasts, and traveling couples looking for a quiet mountain getaway with the best view in town! The property is at the top of a hill and has a great view of downtown Historic Hinton and the New River, from the front porch. A 105 year old Victorian that is as quirky as it is charming. Our home has a large, well stocked kitchen and spacious dining room for those of you who want to eat in. And great high-speed internet for the work-from-home crowd.

Zero Bed Fighting: All three bedrooms feature Queen-sized beds—no twin beds or cramped bunks. Perfect for three couples or a group of friends. Each room has a window a/c unit for a comfortable night’s sleep(in season). Two full baths with a washer and dryer and laundry supplies provided. We are happy to host your dog, for a fee, and have many supplies to meet their needs, as well as a fenced-in backyard off the kitchen, for easy in and out. We are not accepting any other animals at this time, but will consider more dogs on a case by case basis for an additional fee.

The property is the 2nd to last house on a dead end street. We are at the top of a steep hill with forest behind us. It is a nice private location, with a fantastic view from the front porch. You will probably wake up to a deer in the yard! The driveway can accommodate 2 cars, 3 if you’re “creative”. Backing out can be a challenge, backing in is easier for some.

We are located 11 miles from the New River Gorge National Park Welcome Center, in Sandstone. We are 7 miles from Sandstone Falls, minutes to Bluestone Lake and Bluestone State Park and about 20 minutes to Pipestem State Park and their newly rebuilt aerial tramway. The Greenbrier, Bluestone and New Rivers all converge just minutes from the house for some first class fishing. And there are many access points along the way. One day fishing licenses can be purchased online at the WV DNR website or at WaterDawg Outdoors which is less than 2 miles from the house.

Have you ever heard the saying that everything in West Virginia is "around the bend about 40 minutes"?!
Here are some of the attractions that fit that bill:
We are 32 mins from Grandview Overlook.
43 Mins to Babcock State Park and the famous gristmill.
50 mins to West Virginia State Fairgrounds/Lewisberg.
61 mins from the Canyon Rim Visitor center and the NRG Bridge and Bridge walk.
63 mins to the Endless Wall Trail.
70 mins to the Gauley River put-in
72 mins from Hawk’s Nest State Park

Golfers! There are 7 great courses all within an hour of the house; Pipestem at the state park, Black Knight in Beckley, Elks in Lewisburg, Woodhaven and Glade Springs in Daniels, Fountain Springs in Peterstown and the PGA course at the famous Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs.
For winter visitors we are also just over 35mins from Winterplace if skiing, snowboarding and tubing are more your speed! There are also things to do right in Hinton!

As per VRBO rules we are required to disclose the use of an outdoor security camera at the property. We have one device in the upper corner of our porch that surveils the driveway, steps and entrance to the home. For our peace of mind, and yours!

Thanks for checking out Top of the Town. Book with us and you won’t be disappointed.

Christine was very good at communication. The house has a lot of 104 year charm and is in a great location high on a hill in a very interesting area of WV!
