This was a trip we'd been looking forward to for some time, and it did not disappoint! The facilities, setting, comfort and hospitality at Herring Residence was second to none, absolutely made the Stay for us, would love to come back again some time, thank you.

A wonderful stay and would return in a flash!

If you’re reading these reviews wondering whether to book the Herring Residence, just do it! The location is so central, yet the Residence is tucked away and peaceful. It’s a haven of tranquility and style, with the very warmest of welcomes from Maryke who is such a charming and kind host. We felt completely cared for and spoiled, and the breakfast delivery and delicacies were so special and memorable. We would love to return one day to this truly unique and special place!

Everything about the property was wonderful. The location, the facilities withing the apartment, and the cleanliness. the host was absolutely wonderful and friendly, and the breakfast she provided was nothing less than exceptional.

A beautiful & cozy home with a delicious breakfast included, courtesy of an exceptionally warm host.

The breakfast was freshly delivered at a time that was convenient to us, with the flexibility of making our own hot portions which was also very much appreciated. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials, including coffee and tea, which made relaxing at the home very easy.

Relaxing, delicious stay in a beautiful city

This is much more than a B&B, it's an oasis in the centre of Brugge. Maryke was an excellent host; she offered recommendations for activities. Each morning, she brought fresh bread, fruit salad, yoghurt, juice, and danishes to go along with the cheese, meat, and eggs already available.

A pleasureable stay and visit to a gem of accommodation.

The location and the accommodations were excellent. Parked the vehicle in the covered garage and walked everywhere we wanted to go visit. Maryke the owner/host was exceptional in her customer service and welcoming skills. She was attentive to our needs and was always available if we needed her. The breakfast servings brought to our table each day were homemade, fresh and tasted fantastic. A pleasure to visit and stay at the Herring Residence. My spouse and I will hopefully return again in the future. Thank you Maryke.. Well done.

Hostess friendly and breakfast was excellent ; freshly prepared everyday with different treats . Also eggs , bacon and ham plus in fridge for your own cook up .

We found a very pleasant and cosy house that fits to the lovely and wonderful city of Bruges.

The interior design has an amazingly peaceful and warm atmosphere. It’s even more beautiful in real than in the pictures. Also clean and functional. The hostess is very attentive and in the mornings she left high quality food at the door in a basket.

Wonderful place to stay in Bruges.

An absolutely wonderful stay. We can't speak highly enough about the cottage or Maryke. The cottage was so comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was located in a quiet street close to the center. Maryke was such a charming, helpful and friendly host, bringing us amazing breakfasts each morning, even doing so early to help fit in with our touring and travel pans. A highlight of our recent vacation.

Outstanding location, impeccably clean, thoughtful host, exceptional food

We could not have been more pleased with this property. The house was tucked out of the way, private, and quiet but also just a minute from many of the most fabulous spots in Bruges. The property was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable and every room was well equipped. Maryke, our host, was very helpful and knowledgeable. She was available when we needed her but we had total privacy at the same time. Our daily breakfast was a true highlight of the trip. Fresh juice, fresh, local pastries, yogurt, fruit - every morning was a delight. Would give this house 100 stars if I could! All of the people that we met were lovely. Highly recommend wandering the town and getting lost on some of the side streets. Early mornings and late afternoons are the best when the crowds have died down. (Although it wasn't as crowded as I had feared.) Also recommend a bike ride to Sluis. Eat the Kip (chicken) baguette at Le Jardin. OMG. So good. Climb the belfry first thing or at 6/6:20. - fewer people.

Fairy tale stay in Bruges cottage.

The cottage is so cozy and charming right in the middle of Bruges. Just steps away from everything. The breakfast in a basket every morning was like a fairy tale! Maryke is THE most gracious host ever. What a wonderful experience.

Private sanctuary for your culture trip to Bruges.

We really enjoyed privacy and coziness of the residence. The cottage is very clean and it includes all kitchen appliances and tableware. The design of the residence gives you a good sense of Bruges history and very nicely and artistically done. The residence provides good fresh breakfast in a basket of fruits, juices and pastries delivered every morning. We appreciate kind recommendations of the owner that made our tourists sights and restaurant choices so much easier. Thank you very much!

An oasis in the heart of Bruges

The Herring's Residence is a beautifully renovated cottage. It was impeccably clean, comfortable, quiet and within easy walking distance to all Bruges has to offer. The breakfast supplies were absolutely superb. Fresh bread, fruit, fruit juice and pastries were supplied every morning along with eggs, a selection of cheeses, meats, home made preserves & yoghurt. We absolutely loved our stay here.

Absolute paradise of a b&b in the very centre of the town

Our expectations were exceeded by orders of magnitude. The house is in the very center, but in a side street, which is very quite even in the touristic rush hours. Should that be not enough, the house is in the backyard, which is just silent. Maryke the landlady, is like from the fairy tale, really a nice person in every aspect. Concerning food: you get full fridge of selected cheeses, ham, homemade jams, eggs etc. Every morning you get a basket of fresh bread, pastry, juice and some surprise. The house (yes, you get the whole 3 story house just for yourself) is a historic one but very tastefully restored and equipped.

A perfect property. The Herrings residence is an absolutely magical find. Gentle jazz playing on arrival with a homemade apple cake on the side, a warm cosy cottage oozing charm, it was a memorable and pleasurable experience from start to finish. The property is stylish, relaxing, welcoming, comfortable, private and spotless! We loved being so close to the centre of Brugge, within a few minutes walking distance to so many beautiful sights,and yet it was a peaceful, quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle only minutes away. The hosts were welcoming and the breakfasts provided were delicious and plentiful. Fresh pastries and bread delivered daily, beautiful cheeses, meats, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade granola, jams, fresh fruit, yogurts and bacon and eggs stocked in the fridge ready to be cooked at your leisure. Our host gave us some great recommendations for local restaurants and advised us of places to visit. A private and secure parking space was the cherry on the cake and gave us peace of mind throughout our stay. There is nothing to dislike about our stay other than it wasn’t long enough. We hope to return to Brugge one day and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else other than this beautiful cottage. We really can’t rate our stay highly enough, a perfect stay, in a perfect place making a perfect few days away.

Beautiful, cosy cottage right in the heart of the city

Superb all round. Absolutely beautiful, immaculately clean, extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated cottage that is both an oasis of peaceful privacy and right in the heart of the city. The hosts are really lovely, so welcoming, Maryke couldn't do enough to ensure our comfort and offered recommendations of places to visit etc. The breakfast was wonderful, we have never had anything like it, we looked forward to it every day, Maryke knows some excellent bakeries! There's also secure car parking should you need it. It's a cross between a self-catering cottage and luxury B&B. It's just the perfect place to stay if you want the calm and comfort of a cosy cottage with an incredible city centre location.

Beautiful, centrally located mews cottage.

The accommodation was amazing. I had not expected such a lovely little house. Tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The breakfast provided, fresh every morning was delicious and a real treat. 😋 We contacted the owner of the residence to make her aware of particular dietary requirements and she went out of her way to accommodate them. We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend.

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like. It may be useful though to contact guests ahead of time to tell them how to find the cottage as it is set back from the street. It would probably also be useful to know that the stairs in the house may make it unsuitable for people with mobility issues.

Visit Brugge and stay in Herring's Residence

Great quite location near to the city market and de Halve Maan brouwerij :-). Nicely arranged and clean small house with three floors. Very friendly owner Lady, respectful to the guests privacy. We've got also nice recommendations for best spots for dinner with local kitchen and out of tourists crowd. Breakfast basket waiting at morning in small patio full of fresh brugse bagels, croissants and fresh juice. Bikers can store bikes safely in small garden cabinet. WLAN available. SIMPLY PERFECT. Thanks to the host. We hope we can come back once again.

Exceptional

The Herring's Residence is a small mews house attached to a property, and associated with a top restaurant in Bruges. Unlike a "normal" B&B, you have a a whole house to yourself -- a bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining room to enjoy. The location is perfect, a few meters from one of the most important museums in Bruges (The Groeninge Museum) as well as the Church of Our Lady (with parking, if you're driving). But far more important is the ambiance of the residence, which is private and restful. Maryke is a perfect hostess, discrete, but present if needed. The kitchen is very nicely stocked with eggs, milk, cheese, bacon and breakfast meats, jams, juice and the like; the morning brings fresh bread to put together with the meal you prepare yourself. We truly enjoyed it, and happily recommend it.

I did not "dislike" anything. But finding it can be difficult if you don't expect to go down a path and kind of through a garage to get to the mews house.
