About this cottage rental

For those seeking the ultimate getaway, look no further than Jack Strawbale House. Offering spell-binding views, in this beautiful two bedroom Scandinavian-inspired, cruck-framed lodge.. This modern property with a ’minimalist’ style, emanates charm and style but perhaps one of the most endearing features, is a rare chance to offer those who are unable to climb a hill themselves. This property is the ’perfect perch’ to enjoy the breath-taking views afforded at this elevation, with disabled facilities and wheelchair access throughout. To fully appreciate these spectacular views, expansive balconies can be found on each level, as well as floor to ceiling windows which are all south facing and make the most of the daylight. The lower deck includes a sheltered hot tub, an outside seating area, a BBQ, and a chimenea (with loungers) to sit around. Guests won’t feel the need to go far, with Loch Sunart and the Morvern Hills acting as a backdrop, whilst enjoying some al fresco dining, or in the evenings a spot of stargazing under a clear sky.

The spiral staircase leading up to the first-floor balcony which is adjoined to the extensive open plan living space which occupies the entire first floor. This area is the perfect place to entertain, with a large kitchen with lowered worktop for accessibility, a selection of board games and even a telescope to study the stars or local wildlife. Both stairs and a wheelchair lift provide access between floors. There are two spacious en-suite bedrooms downstairs with the master bedroom specially fitted with a walk-in shower, a remote-control toilet and a hoist for disabled guests to manoeuvre comfortably. The second bedroom can be either twin or kingsize and has a wet room bathroom complete with a walk-in shower and separate bath. This eco-friendly property, powered by a 10kw hydro and heated with a ground-source heat pump, truly has something for everyone. The design to be inclusive for all shines through with the attention to detail the owners have given in all aspects. Those who come and stay at Jack Strawbale House will have a wonderful escape and most definitely come back feeling refreshed after retreating to this Highland hideaway. Beach 12 miles. The community-owned Longrigg Woodland beside the strawbale houses will be undergoing small-scale timber harvesting throughout much of 2026. Modern harvesting machinery will be used, with no chainsaws, and the loudest noise guests are likely to hear is the harvester’s reversing beeps from the vehicles. To minimise disturbance, felling closest to the properties has been scheduled for the period when the houses are unoccupied (January to mid-March). For the rest of the year, any work near the accommodation will take place only on weekdays between 10am and 5pm, while activity further away in the woodland may run from 7am to 7pm on weekdays. There is no weekend working, and only a small number of timber lorries up to four per day are expected. We do not anticipate any significant impact on guests’ stays, but we are sharing this information so visitors are fully informed. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Fabulous holiday accommodation set in the most beautiful part of Scotland. Jack was spotless and welcoming. On arrival we were greeted by the owner who was really helpful and friendly. Once inside Jack we were amazed at how big the house actually is. The welcome goodies left were very much appreciated. Decked areas were awesome , hot tub with a stunning views what more could you want. The house had everything you could need including a been to cup coffee machine. Plenty of local walks and trips to stunning beaches. Highlight of the week was the visits from Pine Martin on the upper balcony. Love this place.
