Very relaxing holiday in a lovely place. The kitchen was very well equipped, including scales and baking dishes. My Mum particularly appreciated the walk in shower. Everyone enjoyed the sea view and the beautiful weather (not guaranteed obviously, but we were lucky!).

It was wonderful to return to the beautiful island of Lismore with our our grown-up children after 15 years. Although there are more visits to the island, you never feel you’re using share the place as it is so peaceful.The house has a sterling location looking out over the bay towards Appin. There has been so much attention to detail in the property that it lacked nothing. For those who struggle with a firmer mattress, I would observe that the beds are on the firm side.

Lovely house , which was well equipped , with fantastic wraparound balcony where you could take in the stunning views and watch the family paddle boarding . Cycle hire at the nearby walk on ferry and lovely walks.. Cafe at the visitor centre has lovely food and Lismore is worth a visit . We will certainly visit Strathlorn again.

The house is in an amazing location, right on the water. The view is breathtaking and there is almost no noise apart from the sea and the birds.The islanders are very welcoming and helpful. A beautiful house!

We were looking for self catering accommodation for 2 people but when we saw this place we decided to indulge ourselves and booked it straight away. The property did not disappoint. It was simply perfect and "that view"!!! Due to the changing tides, and weather, there was always something new to see. Watching the boat traffic was interesting too. The property would easily accommodate 6 people with en suite facilities to all 3 bedrooms, and plenty of seating in the lounge area and at the dining table. The foot ferry was less than 10 minutes walk away, and the car ferry only 15 minutes drive. We hired bikes from The Point and paid a couple of visits to the Heritage Centre where the blackcurrant ice cream was the best I've ever tasted. A perfect location for 'getting away from it all'.

The house corresponds perfectly to the description, very tastefully furnished, the equipment leaves nothing to be desired. The view of the loch is breathtakingly beautiful, we really enjoyed the morning silence and the wildlife. Communication with Marilyn and John was extremely friendly and helpful. Lismore has lovely walks, a great cafe with burgers, soup, sandwiches and cakes, a perfect addition for those who don't always want to use their own kitchen. We had a wonderful time despite the rain and would love to come back. Then we will also try out the fireplace, unfortunately we didn't get round to it. Many thanks, Marilyn and John!

Very high spec property with everything you could possibly need and more ! Enclosed garden and direct access to beach. Lismore is a beautiful island but some areas best explored on foot or bicycle as parking limited.Dogs must be kept on leads due to Sherpa and ground nesting birds. Lots of walks, wonderful cafe and heritage centre and the fun of the foot ferry over to port appin. If you like sea gazing and swimming and walking you will never be bored here.

The accommodation was to a high standard and very comfortable with stunning views. Lismore is a wonderful, tranquil island, rich in wildlife and beautiful scenery. Otters and seals spotted daily from the accommodation. Mother otter and pup seen at Point and Port Ramsay during the day. Loved watching the nesting birds and geese with small goslings. A fantastic property with amazing views! As a lot of the other reviews mention, this a lovely property that is very well furnished and has everything you could possibly need. We wondered if the house would be cold and whether the WiFi would be ok. The house was lovely and warm and the WiFi is better and faster than I get in Cardiff! The location is stunning. The views are breathtaking, the people are friendly and silence is golden! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this beautiful property for some time getting way from it all! I can’t wait to visit again. If you can, absolutely do!

No hesitation to recommend, especially if you have an outdoorsy leaning. Spotless, and welcoming. Quiet and with an off grid feel. Views that leave you wondering why you are staring into space for minutes at a time without a single thought in your head. Lots to see and do on the island and taking off on foot every day was one adventure after another. Bring plenty of food because we worked up prodigious appetites every day. No negative thoughts at all.

A fantastic object in a very nice location, The guesthouse and the location is perfect to retreat from stress and hectical jobs. There is space for up to 6 persons, a huge and well equipped kitchen and a livingroom with the most refreshing view for watching tides rushing in and out, ships go by and many species on search for food. If planned well you wouldn't even need a car. The host is giving most valuable information to every request about the house and the surroundings. Mind to book your ferry-trips to and from the island well in advance.

We had a wonderful trip to Lismore made all the more special by the wonderful house. What a view! Enjoyed a couple of day trips to Oban on the car ferry to sightsee on the mainland but also enjoyed using the foot ferry for meals at the Pier House at Port Appin. What a lovely house, well equipped and in a stunning location on the Island of Lismore, up at the point . Everything we were looking for to just chill and read on the beautiful balcony. Walking distance to the point ferry over to Port Appin for delicious seafood lunch at The Pierhouse Hotel . Weather was sunny and the views idyllic . This was a real home from home with everything you could possibly need. But with the added benefit of stunning views from most of the windows, it was really breathtaking to come through in the morning to such a panorama of mountains, sea and sky. The perfect get away from hectic work lives in the town. My husband hired a bike locally and rode every road and track there was! He loved it. Very little traffic so very safe. I could not recommend this property highly enough if you are looking for the perfect peaceful get away from it all.

It’s a beautifully location and a lovely house . A island totally unspoilt few and far between these days. The property is comfortable and warm the local food store on the island is very good. We had some chicken and pork from their freezer ( Oban butcher ) and the poultry and meat were delicious. We had mainly good weather but a Gale on Friday, very windy and we enjoyed it !! The next day calm returned and the sun came out . I would highly recommend the island and this property . If you have problems with hard water bring bottled and your own kettle. I will be coming back.

Of nearly 30 years holidaying in Scotland, this is the self-catering cottage with the most spectacular view. A very comfortable, warm cottage on a magical island. Already booked to return. We had our dog and six year old grandson with us- both loved it and the TV was never on. The Whiteheads are very helpful and how lucky to have a place like this!

Lismore Island is obviously not very large so does not take long to explore but that didn't bother us in the slightest as that was not really the type of holiday we were looking for this time. The ferry back to port appin for a pub lunch or for more walking is straightforward and crew were friendly

We were a little apprehensive going off grid to the Island of Lismore but we were totally blown away with the location, the views and the property! It was everything we had hoped and more. The views were breath taking and we’re certainly going to miss looking across to the mountains and watching the boats going up and down the loch. The house was stunning and incredibly well equipped. There wasn’t anything more we could have asked for. For anyone worrying about being away from it all, we brought groceries in Oban but the post office/shop on the island was very well stocked and open daily. The foot ferry to Port Appin can also be taken to access restaurants and a coop. The heritage centre and cafe on Lismore was easily within cycling and walking distance and does extremely good cakes! They also do curry evenings and fish and chip suppers. Thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful home is a stunning location, we really didn’t want to come home!

We generally make a rule that with so many places to visit we don’t come back to the same place twice, we will be breaking this rule for Strathlorn! The views are unbelievable, the weather changes the view everyday. We had some amazing sunrises, and some stormy weather too, both equally beautiful. The cottage has everything you could need, and I mean everything!! Sharp knives (something often lacking in self catering accommodation), good water pressure, warm heating, comfy bed, and incredibly clean. Our ferry from Oban was cancelled on the first day because of the weather so we parked at Port Appin and took the passenger ferry over. We ended up leaving our car on the mainland all week. We did more day trips out as a result. The cottage is a 10 min walk at most from the ferry and everyone we met offered us a lift. The owners were fab with emails and Denise made sure we were comfortable and gave us the heads up about the ferry, much appreciated! The amazing views and super friendly people on the Island are just two of the reasons to visit. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

The house has a beautiful shoreline view across the loch which allowed sightings of many sea birds, otters and porpoises. The accommodation was very comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen - more than any other we have stayed in. Would definitely recommend a trip over to Port Appin to the Pier House for some fantastic seafood.
