About this cottage rental

Middle Gable The Old Hall is a beautifully presented Grade II* listed property which sleeps five guests, in two well-appointed bedrooms, with a modern family bathroom and a further ground floor shower room. The property is styled in a traditional yet contemporary manner, boasting a wealth of original character features including dovecotes (square holes on the outside wall, originally intended to house doves or pigeons), stone mullion windows, wooden beams, a magnificent fireplace and wooden flooring. Outside there is a double garage with off-street parking directly outside for one additional car and a tranquil garden with plenty of seating for al fresco dining. Middle Gable The Old Hall is situated in Bourton-on-the-Water, often affectionately referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, which is home to a variety of fine eateries, tearooms and boutique shops, as well as numerous tourist attractions.

I spent three nights at Middle Gable cottage. It is perfectly situated in Bourton-On-The-Water. There are many places to eat within just a few minutes walk. A supermarket is also just a short distance away so it was possible to stock up on milk and food to settle into the cottage for the stay. The cottage is clean and comfortable. There is a lovely living room with a television to relax in at the end of the day, plus a very nice kitchen. There is the choice of either a shower and toilet downstairs, or a bathroom upstairs. It is in a quiet area and has a very pretty garden. The cottage dates back to 1650 and has so much character. There is underfloor heating in the living room so you are warm. If you don't have a car, I would advise the nearest train station is Moreton-On-The-Marsh then pre-book a taxi to the cottage (the train station doesn't have a taxi rank). Alternatively there is a bus service you can use. I would highly recommend booking Middle Gable to anyone considering it. It is a lovely cottage and made for an ideal visit to the area.

Everything was lovely, but room temperature could have been several degrees warmer.

This was an amazing place to stay for easy walking access to Bourton! Love the historical feel of the property and there is loads of space. The main bed is quite comfortable and really big. The stairs were also easy to navigate. Do be sure to check your spam folder for communication as we couldn't find it until the last minute, luckily the host was quite gracious. Thank you for a great stay!

Check in at 5pm far too late and not warranted. Had to strip our own beds on last day which for the price we paid was ridiculous. No bins in kitchen to encourage recycling which didn’t make sense as had to collect rubbish in own bags anyway to take out to external bins. Banned from charging electric car, which as it turned out was a nightmare as local facilities really limited. Would only stay here again if they changed attitude to electric cars and check in time.. Neighbour’s lovely and very beautiful quirky old house in fabulous location with parking.
