About this cottage rental

Middle Gable The Old Hall is a beautifully presented Grade II* listed property which sleeps five guests, in two well-appointed bedrooms, with a modern family bathroom and a further ground floor shower room. The property is styled in a traditional yet contemporary manner, boasting a wealth of original character features including dovecotes (square holes on the outside wall, originally intended to house doves or pigeons), stone mullion windows, wooden beams, a magnificent fireplace and wooden flooring. Outside there is a double garage with off-street parking directly outside for one additional car and a tranquil garden with plenty of seating for al fresco dining. Middle Gable The Old Hall is situated in Bourton-on-the-Water, often affectionately referred to as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' due to the low arched bridges that cross over the River Windrush, which is home to a variety of fine eateries, tearooms and boutique shops, as well as numerous tourist attractions.

A beautiful and historic home in a wonderful Cotswold location. We could not have been more pleased with Middle Gable! And the owner was very responsive and helpful. A top pic in an idyllic Cotswold town. RDD.

We are very pleased to have chosen Middle Gable for our week's stay in the Cotswolds. It is the ideal place from which to venture out walking in the Cotswold countryside with the centre of Bourton-on-The-Wold less than two minutes walk away, with its many eateries, bars and shops conveniently placed along the river. The house itself is absolutely delightful to the eye both inside and out and retains many of the features of a historic building built in the mid-17th Century, The huge four-poster bed (amazingly comfortable) in the main bedroom (lying on a not exactly horizontal floor), and the vast number of paintings (which would make the Tudors feel right at home) added to the quirkiness of the property. All that was missing was a ghostly presence. Despite being almost in the heart of the village the house was very quiet which made for peaceful nights' sleep for the whole of our stay. The house had all the modern conveniences expected of a residential property even down to providing dishwasher and washing machine tablets. If we come to the Cotswolds again then Middle Gable would be our first choice for accommodation.

Middle Cable embodied everything we were looking for during our stay in the Cotswold. From the enchanting construction of the property, to the beautiful garden area and interior details, everything enhanced our first visit together to this region of England. The living spaces inside are very comfortable, and especially the huge master bed! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything to prepare light or full meals. Cate was wonderful in her communications and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations. It truly provided a very nice personal touch. We are very pleased with the decision to select this property, and can highly recommend it for a visit to the Cotswolds.

If you want to feel on holiday in a bygone era but with the essential mod cons of modern living then this is the place to stay. TV, wi-fi, underfloor heating, fully fitted kitchen in surroundings befitting Henry the 8th. A fabulous and comfortable old 4 poster bed in a bedroom that makes you think you're time travelling. All surrounded by a beautiful and quiet English country garden and really close to the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water. We had a great few days away at Middle Gable relaxing and enjoying the many delights of the Cotswolds. Cate the owner couldn't have been more helpful, thank you for sharing your beautiful house.

Lovely atmospheric property within minutes of the centre of town. Enough parking for two cars in the garage. Everything was in excellent order and the gardens surrounding the house were lovely. It would have been helpful to have access a little earlier than 5.00pm and to be given the key code to get in at least a day before rather than 15 minutes before arrival at 5.00pm.

The Middle Gable at Bourton on the Water is a one of a kind experience as your accomodations were built in the 1600's. The home is charming. The town is absolutely lovely.

Middle Gable is a unique opportunity to stay in a very comfortable house which incredibly dates back to 1642. It is very well equipped, beautifully furnished and in a fantastic location in the heart of the Cotswolds. There are countless places to visit and many walks in the area. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this is one of the very best, full of character and history. We will return and have already recommended it to our friends and family.
