breakfast was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful
Went during rainy season, hard to get out of town, as ditch that fills with water and become impassable

Sharp price, outside Ubud
Really dated resort, drone photo old; surrounding buildings, thin walls- no sound proving, small animals in bathroom and bedroom.

The amazing views of the rice fields
The farmers in the rice field work is up at 7 in the morning making noise for about a hour to scare the birds. If you are a light sleeper it’s to much noise. Also the stuff didn’t really want to do much like make food, do a massage and said they were available all night but at 11ish went home and I had guests talking and making noise by scratching there chais on the floor outside my room.

Light airy room, nice Balcony and view of the pool. Friendly staff.
It was noisy, road works, construction work, dogs barking, passing traffic. Then there is the cacophony of frogs etc... at night. My room overlooked the road so not a great location. It is probably OK down the back of the property. Noisy teenagers in the pool in the afternoons dive bombing and shouting. The "Restaurant" overlooks the road too so that was noisy and dusty from the road works. I was disappointed as I had wanted a quiet country stay and I didn't get that. The aerial photo is deceiving. Although remote from shops and facilities, the Hotel is on quite a busy road. The TV never worked in my room and I did get a discount for that. WiFi was patchy. Staff don't speak much English so difficult to communicate. The bathroom is quite basic. Cold standing shower or hot hand held shower over bath. Pebbles on the floor. Not really that clean. Blinds in bathroom need replacing, all broken and not working.

Cute rooms, vegetation all around, nearby some waterfalls and rice terraces.
A bit far from some things.

So beautiful outside of the busy bustle of Ubud. Petulu Village is small and calm and you can tell all the people that live there look out for each other. The staff here are exceptional, Cook a lovely meal, are amazing to chat to, and will go beyond to make sure you have a brilliant stay. Room is stunning and you get your own kettle, fridge and beautifully decorated bathroom.
Yes there are bugs and if you have a room with a bath then the shower is only cold water but you just have a bath or have a cold shower after your swim in their gorgeous pool. But you’ve come to Bali for the experience and this place gives it to you. Only 15 by bike south into Ubud town. 15 mins by bike north to Tegallang rice terraces. Good central location for big day trips and to chill out.

Charmingly rustic property with great amenities. I loved having a tub with lots of hot water. I enjoyed just sitting and overlooking the rice fields.
Because the rooms were wooden it could
Be quite noisy, but it wasn’t terribly obtrusive as most guests were considerate

Lovely stay! Such a beautiful location tucked away from the busy streets of ubud and still very near everything! Great pool and probably the most comfortable bed ever!
Slight issues with check in as we arrived very early due to delayed flight - but we got in eventually :)

Lovely cottages in Ubud, slightly out of the centre which meant it was away from lot of traffic. Breakfast was on point. They had the loveliest kittens staying there who were beautiful and friendly. Helped with scooter hire with was cheaper than others in town.
Pool didn't look like it was cleaned regularly so we didn't have a dip.

I wanted to stay away from the busy part of Ubud, but close enough to take about 10 minutes on a motorbike taxi to get into the centre when I needed to. The location was perfect. It was quiet and relaxing. The room was traditional style and the buildings were rustic and charming.
The breakfast choices were very basic. Everything else about the hotel was as I expected.

I recently stayed at Anantara JJ Hotel for a week, and my experience was disappointing. While it might be suitable for a night or two, the property is in dire need of renovation and feels old and rundown.
My room had several issues: the bathroom lacked a vanity and had a bad smell, with a dirty bathtub that made it uninviting to use. The bed sheets were dirty and never changed throughout my stay, which was unacceptable. The thin curtains didn’t block out light, and noise from the road and a water pump under the room disrupted my sleep, forcing me to use earplugs. The breakfast was another letdown—the fried eggs were raw, despite multiple requests for them to be cooked properly.
WiFi was poor; I was misled about its sufficiency when booking, which made working from my room very difficult. I didn’t expect a 5-star experience for the price, but the photos on their website show a completely different reality.
The pool area was particularly concerning. It was unclean, with dirty sun loungers, litter surrounding the pool, and green water that raised serious health concerns. Additionally, the kitchen where meals are prepared looked horrible and unhygienic.
The staff who were present during the day were nice but nothing spectacular.
On a positive note, my terrace was quite nice, as I had the last room at the back with a lovely view. I appreciated this feature and would give an extra star for that. I also found a nice restaurant called Labak Sari just a 10-minute walk away, contrary to claims that there are no dining options nearby.
Overall my stay fell short of expectations. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for an extended stay without significant improvements.

I LOVE this property and the staff. I feel like home every day. I stayed over one month and I’ll be back in the future for sure.

Love the whole nature environment. It’s away from the busy area, but only about 15mins to get to the Ubud Temple. Also it’s close to the rice terrace too!

Looks like a small village in the jungle. The apartment itself is good, many pillows and Netflix works there😁. Fridge is plus.
I heard every movie from the second floor, very noisy. The hotel is not new, so curtains in the room and shower doesn’t work. Stairs at the swimming pool really als and scary.

Affordable. Location amongst nature (if you have your own transport).
I was given a room that faces the Reception wall 🙄. Could hear the staff & music all night. There is also construction going on right next door, with workers being able to look directly into the windows. Even if I had opened the curtains, the view is mostly blocked by a wall.
As others have mentioned, the shower has cold water only, towels were old & stained.
You can also hear EVERYTHING from the neighboring rooms above and next door. Talking, walking, taking a shower etc. If you're a light sleeper, would not recommend.
The location is gorgeous, however guests should be informed about the construction. I would also rather pay a bit more for a place where you can get a good night's sleep, rather than being kept awake by the neighbors.

Location was good.
The bungalow was pretty bad, mattress not comfortable, horrible shower, and small tube of soap. The AC was also not cold at all, all the equipments were not efficient. Very disappointed.

The view was beautiful
The site advertised with good working wifi, while I didn’t have wifi at my room or at the swimming pool either. It only worked in the front at the reception desk

Over all our stay is exceptional...we love the place. The staffs were so nice and they even helped us for our surprice birthday present to my sister. A big thumbs up!!! I will recommed this place. And definitely when we come back to Bali, this will be our first choice where to stay.

We like the location which is next to the paddy field & spacious room. Room service cleaned up every day & breakfast was brought to our unit.
No hook to hang our towel after used & the bungalow room we stayed is not sound proof, can hear footsteps & talking voice upstairs unit.

Staff were great.
Photos online were a little deceptive. Rooms looked bigger in the photo. No microwave in the kitchen. Many small hotels have microwaves.
Toilet seat was stained but I managed to clean some of the stain with consistent wiping. The staff can do this if they try.
Hair in the bathroom rock area. I know it’s hard to clean but staff can pick out the hair.

Beautiful bungalows located among rice paddies outside of Ubud. Quiet area, friendly staff and great views. Definitely outside of the Center though so you’ll need a scooter or something to get into Ubud.
Wifi really only worked in the common area not the room for us. Water and showers would frequently stop working and I don’t mean hot water, I mean all water. staff were quick to address it though.

The location was pretty as was the room.
There is not really anywhere to eat around here so you need transportation or to eat here and their food is expensive and was not good.
It's surprisingly noisy.
Truth be told, the website looks much better than the reality.
We used Grab motorbikes once we got here which really helped us not feel trapped.
