It was exceptionally

The owner of the place is so kind especially because I had a complicated situation because the bus that my daughter boarded was late with 3 hours and arrived after 00:00 while my daughter was supposed to check in around 21:00 but the owner helped us even when the bookings has already been cancelled and payment was supposedly to be paid cash when she check in. The owner allowed my daughter to enter and refer us to the lady by the name Anelisiwe who assisted us, mind you I wasn’t even there, we were communicating via telephone, my daughter was travelling alone going to the nearby university for her first year and it was her first time travelling away from home Durban. This lady was very much helpful and kind, even when I woke her up early hours around 02:00 on her sleep due to worrying about the child coz her phone was off since she run out of battery the lady was too kind to even accommodate my requests, I’m very much greatful to her, my daughter is safe because of that place and it people 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I didn’t know there’s still good people out there who don’t even ask for anything in return 🙏🏻🙏🏻 They didn’t even ask us to pay anything and she is safe and at school now because of such people

To be honest there isn’t , since that place offered us more then what we expected

Good for a single traveler for an overnight stay

Good neighbourhood. Nice wifi Clean beds & bedding. Great staff

Had a towel as a curtain in the bathroom. The TV was broken as seen in the picture and the remote doesn't work. Beds were uncomfortable. Unable to access facilities such as microwave and fridge as it's located in the main house. Shower door handle broken. Got woken up an hour before actual checkout time, after late checkout was requested.

You don't get what you pay for

I enjoyed nothing about this place. They didn't even give me the room i paid for. I did not stay there instead after asking them why i could not get my room they told me that someone else was in it already

The place was dirty and didn't have what they promised. I was told to contact the manager for my refund because i didn't stay the night there

Nightmare of the century

TV wasn't working . Shower made an extreme noise. Whole toilet cistern and bowl was completely loose and almost fell over when I sat down. Cockroaches everywhere. I'm the lounge as I walked in there was someone sleeping on the couch where guests are supposed to sit . The place stinks and hospitality was horrendous. Will never ever go back . I asked the owner for discount as this was a case of false advertising and the cocky answer to tell me there nothing he can do about it I must complain to booking.com . I advise nobody to ever book there it is the worst stay I've ever had in my entire life .

Location was good, it is in a quiet area.

The Tv was not connected with WiFi nor DSTv so it only played the SABC channels which had me bored.

The bed was comfortable and the fridge was okay

The kitchen is old, there was no kitchenette. The toilet and shower are together, you can't use toilet while other one using shower. TV was not working, and no remote. Wardrobe was broken. There's still a lot I can't finish them.

Overall, a good experience, and you get what you paid for.

The beds were really comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot. Overall a pretty decent experience, staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean on arrival. Parking was safe and secure.

The design of the bathroom could have been better. A shower curtain should be installed, as the there was not barrier for privacy between the toiler or the shower. There was also no remote to control the TV. Parking was inconvenient as you would either be parked in or be requested to move your car to allow other guests to leave,

I will not refer a friend or family member to spend the day or night at mabel guesthouse.

The bed was fine.

The tiling in the shower was very slippery when a person showers. No entertainment was available as stated like there was no remote for the TV. There was no shower curtains so if a person showers u wet the hole toilet. No small rubbish bin inside the room.

Disrespectful and discrimination

The moment I booked out

Considering that I am temporarily disabled due to medical reasons I was made to walk to a shop and back because of payment misunderstanding I was not met with compassion at all but felt rather discriminated my working dog was also made to feel unwelcome and the following morning was woken up to people banging on my door to do maintenance that I was not informed about at all There was no coffee or tea I felt like a burden rather than a guest

There was noise throughout the night, and since I had to go to work, I ended up being half asleep due to the disturbance. The check-in experience was good, and the bed was comfortable. However, it would be appreciated if guests were encouraged to keep the noise down after 22:00 and return to their rooms so that others can rest peacefully.

Unpleasant, unprofessional staff.

The room was small, but it was fine for one person as I am a solo traveler. Also, the room was extremely cold as it did not get any sun, which means I had to wear a thick jacket day and night. The bed was very comfortable with ample pillows, and the blanket was nice and warm. Good location as it is within walking distance of town and restaurants and public transport.

Other guests come in in the early morning hours and the lady speaks very loudly and being very noisy. Kitchen was not clean and I saw quite a few cockroaches. No basic cutlery so I had an issue obtaining a knife and fork to eat my dinner with and a teaspoon to make some coffee. The booking.com website says good equipped kitchen...definitely not the case. There was no drying cloths for dishes, no dishwashing soap and there was a funny smell hanging in the air of old food cooking and cabbage and bean curry, not pleasant. The lady also gets very rude by checkout time, she keeps on knocking on the door and screaming check-out, which I find very rude and making me feel unwelcome, which is a big problem here in Cape Town with all the "African-owned" guesthouses. There is no exceptions for check-in time being earlier or a request to check out an hour later, even if I had paid for an extra hour or two. Very unpleasant experience, I certainly will not be staying at this house again.

Enjoyed my 3 nights and 3 days in the place.

The room was very good, with a good service. The neighbourhood is very nice for walks and actually getting fresh air. The place is situated nearby bus station if you're someone traveling using a bus, highly recommended it.

The only thing that I didn't like is that the bathroom after use would have some bad smell. Hopping that the house owner will fix whatsoever was causing bad smelling there and also offer fresher to spray when someone done easing himself/herself.

I did not like anything at all. My husband felt fear as he entered place. We cut our stay short. No sort of refund or voucher was offered. No one asked why we going so fast.

It was easy to found. The bed neat and comfortable. Was having a good night sleep. Having a nice bath too.

The neighbour guest was a bit noicy. Its not the Host fold. The nrighbour guest open/close the door regular hard and talk loud infront of the door. Until they went to sleep. You cant choose the neighbour guest 😁😁😁

The place was nice and quiet and the room was really big. Host was nice, no complaint about her service.

The fact that we spotted rats right under our window, there was at least 6 or 7, had to close our windows. Also heard some noise in the ceiling, like animals running there, not sure if it was rats. Under 1 of the beds there was some chocolate packaging, plus the curtains was dirty and there was no mat when we got out of the shower, floor was slippery. Bedding also need a bit of a upgrade.
