Hostel do Alto - Fão

It was the first hostel on my Camino and probably the cosiest one! I loved everything about it. The owners make you feel like home and show you around and help you with any question you have. The house is very clean, there is a small kitchen where you can cook and you can have your dinner or breakfast in the garden under a lemon tree. I liked that there were multiple shower cabins and toilets on every floor so I never had to wait and the water pressure in the shower was so good and I didn't have to wait for it to warm up - oh, it's a pure bliss after a long walk! The bed was quite comfortable and clean, no bedbugs and there was only 4 beds in one room. There is a laundry area in the back of the garden where you can hand wash your clothes and if you need a laundry machine there is a self-service laundry within a 2-min walk. And the last but not the least - they got 3 cats living in the hostel so you get to pet them for free ;)

I'm a light sleeper so some noise from the cars passing by was a minor inconvenience as the window in the dormitory was open to let some fresh air in.

Amazing place! Had everything we could need and more. Super super clean, quiet, and in a lovely little town with lots to offer. Loved it here, and excellent value for money. Lovely staff too! And a very friendly cat too!

everything, from the cleanliness (like brand new), the facilities, the neighborhood, but the best is the owner and the staff. they are very friendly, the friendliest Portugese we ever met.
