Rustic Retreat in Retford

We loved the location of the Lodge. Set amongst sandstone and a beautiful river amongst the countryside. There was a park, rope swing and tree to cross the river. It was very fun for our children to be free amongst the beautiful surroundings. It felt very idyllic between a wedding venue and a campsite. I can imagine it's a great place to camp too. The fire pit and wood were an absolute, unexpected joy. We stayed up late roasting marshmallows and enjoying the fire. Thank you for this lovely touch. It made my son's trip! We would 100% come back!

Very minor things: No welcome pack as described in the guide book. It meant that we didn't have hand soap,milk and washing up sponges so I had to leave the washing up, sorry! We did however have shampoo, conditioner and body wash, towels, clean bedding and the fire pit. It's so beautiful but possibly not the retreat that people could be expecting if there are campers in front of you, especially with the toilet block next door also. The dog waste bin was also bursting out. This is me being picky. We loved it x

We loved this place and will be back We was travelling to Essex from Scotland a few weeks ago for my 30th and come across this gem just off the motorway Will be back for sure

It was easy to find. It was clean.

There was no complimentary tea bags or shower gel so we had to find a shop for those.
