Host & Stay - Turnstones Apartment

The apartment was fantastic - modern, spacious, good decor, and a nice little enclosed patio area. It was great to have secure, indoor parking, which was only seconds away from the lift to the apartment. The hosts company had sent a digital brochure beforehand with excellent information that included accessing the garage and apartment, alongside useful local information. When I was searching for somewhere to stay for 21st and 22nd August 2026 for a friend’s birthday, I wanted a modern, spacious place with 2 double bedrooms, outdoor space, big comfy settee, parking, walking distance to harbour, WiFi etc., and this apartment achieved all this and more. The beds were huge and very comfortable, with 4 pillows and good quality bedding. Both bedrooms were lovely and mine had an en-suite with a spacious shower. The main bathroom also had a shower and bath. We really appreciated that the hosts left small but adequate supplies of basics such as dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc., and there was a good selection of crockery, pans, cooking utensil’s, and glasses. We couldn’t fault the apartment at all. It is also opposite a lovely park area which is a beautiful alternative walking route to the town/sea front areas.

The only negative was on both mornings we were woke up around 5am by (I’m assuming) children running around another apartment for an hour or so. I’m sure this would just be a family on holiday and so a transient issue, (and beyond the host’s control), but it wasn’t great for us.

The check in process was easy. The keys were in a lock box at your car parking space and access to the building was right next to us. The apartment was lovely. The facilities were brilliant. It was very spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The courtyard was a good space. It rained the entire time we were there so didnt get to use it but would have been lovely to sit out on a warm evening with a drink. The apartment building was in a great area with a 5 minute walk down the hill to the shops. Bit of a trek back up the hill but we took it steady and it was fine. We ended up getting a taxi one of the days as the rain was extremely heavy and it was £4 to the train station which was a good price for convenience.

As I said, it rained the entire time we were there and due to a leaky gutter and rain hitting the window ledge, we all had a terrible sleep. I had to video it and send it to the host as the noise was ridiculous. We thought it was hailing at first but on our first night there we were awake from around 1am until 5am and the second night we were up from about 2am to 4am. I let the host know both times and they were very quick to respond but nothing was done about it. Unfortunately it ruined our break away a little as we came home absolutely shattered. We wanted to spend our final day exploring the Abbey etc but we were too tired to do anything and just drove home. I would also advise the cleaners to dust a bit more. The amount of dust on the light shades right above the bed and on the lamps in the sitting room was crazy.

It was not very clean in places, which has put me off booking the place again considering you charged me £60 for cleaning. There was dust on skirting boards, lamps, lights, window blinds, window sills, under the cushions of the settee was covered in crumbs and rubbish, under the dressing table and the plants were covered in dust. There was a clothes tag in the wardrobe from a previous guest. Also holes in some of the duvet covers. Will contact you with more photos.
