A wonderful rural stay: quiet, comfortable, and a beautiful spot!

As the name suggests, Hisa Brdo is a guesthouse up in in the hills outside Tolmin. The misty morning mountain views are still in our minds! You can really switch off here. A very warm greeting and great hospitality from Roger and Louise throughout the stay. We enjoyed the option to have dinner there on both nights (you need to reserve in advance) - hearty and delicious pasta dishes, perfect after a long day out when you just want to unwind and stay put. Wonderful terrace to relax on after an active day out, also sunset facing. Also a homely living room with television and games. The location is remote in that you need a car or bike to get there. The nearest town is a 15 mins or so away. And very important for us, the guest house is pet friendly.

The absolute best place to stay in the area

I loved the house, the location is amazing, being able to come home to dinner is so nicel, and Roger and Louise are so warm and kind! It was also the perfect place to stay first because they gave me so many great recommendations for all over Slovenia for the rest of my trip. I will 100% stay there again if I come back to Slovenia.

Lovely guesthouse with a great and clean room. Nice views from the backyard. Roger and Louise were very kind! Our short stay was very nice with lots of friendly convos with the hosts and the other guests over dinner and breakfast!

Just a short (but with winding roads!) drive from so many beautiful things! And a hop skip and a jump to Friuli. The bed was incredibly comfortable. They were so kind and provided a cot for our baby. The stay felt very communal with lots of warm friendly convos from other guests and the hosts!

We misunderstood the the tight window for check in time and felt bad having kept the staff waiting.

Warm stay, great view!

We had one night stay during our road trip but we would be happy to come back one day for a longer stay. Roger and Louise are incredibly friendly and helpful. The room is very comfortable, very clean. Little touch in the room by Louise - makeup remover and cotton :) very nice taste of decoration with a great view. We felt that we were in a friend/family house for a visit. Thank you for everything, hopefully we will come again. :)

Stay here!

This place is a real home from home, set in the most stunning location, with tonnes to do nearby. Please, if you stay here consider staying a few nights and exploring the local areas and hikes, I passed through and it was my favourite part of Slovenia, I will definitely return. Roger and Louise are the perfect hosts and welcomed me so warmly into their home. Their meals are exceptional and it was the comfiest nights sleep I've had in ages, super soft sheets and a lovely room. I got to see an incredible sunset over the mountains and opened my window this morning to hear the birds singing- such a peaceful experience. Highly recommend staying here as a homely and comfortable base for adventures in Slovenia.

Great stay

We stayed in a room with a double bed and a private bathroom. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. There is a shared kitchen and living room downstairs, and a beautiful outdoor seating area with chairs, tables, a grill, and lovely views of the surrounding nature. Roger and Louise were very nice, and we felt very welcome. They stay on the upper floor. Although we did not order breakfast, we saw them preparing it for other guests, and it looked absolutely delicious. It might be worth getting it next time. ;)

An absolutely amazing place to stay

This place was dope. They didn’t miss a beat. The bathroom even had Q-tips, cotton pads, and Micellar water to remove makeup etc. the bed was huge and had a fluffy down comforter. Did I mention the view….um, it was an incredible. Everything was clean and fabulous. I had a room with a patio and there was a picnic table with umbrella; you could sit and look out at the spectacular view and hear the sheep chattering below. The price was a great value for the stunning masterpiece it was.

A beautiful cosy home hosted by two great humans

A beautiful guesthouse in a magical, quiet spot. Roger and Louise are absolute legends! I completely overcooked it hiking over the mountain that day and to arrive to a home cooked meal, a cold crispy beer and some great conversation was perfect. Roger also helped me out with a lift the next day - thank you so much to you both, felt so looked after. Just note there is no shops or restaurants in this remote area - it’s wise to accept the additional offer of dinner!

Off the beaten path but well worth a visit!

Super friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts! Never at a loss for words. Spacious bedroom and very comfortable beds. Great shower! Delicious dinner and breakfast (elective) served up in a spacious dining room. Fantastic terrace with afternoon sun, and a great view, upon which to enjoy a cold beer after a long day's walking.

Warm, homely, clean & friendly

They cater so well for bikers without being too in your face that they’re set up for bikers. I could happily visit here with my wife in the car for a quiet break but also visit here with my biker pals on our motorbikes. Clean and homely facilities in a house nestled into the hills and mountains of Slovenia. The hosts are happy to allow us to park our bikes in their large barn which is attached to the guest house along side their own motorbikes. Did I mention, they’re bikers too so they know all the best roads to ride in Slovenia.

Warm and welcoming

The owners Roger and Louise were very nice, they provided us with everything we needed. The house is like being in your own home, cozy and comfortable. Even the day we left there was a little misunderstanding with the bill and after we left, Roger caught up with us on his bike to refund a part of it, that was incredibly fair and really appreciate it, thanks for your home and services!!

Louise and Roger are on a great new adventure in their lives and we had the privilege to join them for a few days. We felt as being with friends. Golden people. It was my birthday and it was very memorable thanks to them and the Argentinian and German guests. "I wanna go go to the via FOMO" but it is very tempting to not go anywhere.

Clean rooms with friendly hosts

The accommodation is located inside the beautifully renovated house built more than 200 years ago. Both our room and the shared facilities were exceptionally clean. The hosts were very kind and welcoming and we totally enjoyed having conversation with them over a cup of coffee.

The breakfast was nice but we expected more variety. Having some eggs, pancakes or bacon in the morning would be a nice edition.

It's a very beautifully renovated house in a quiet area. The room was super comfortable and has a great view. Roger and Louise are lovely hosts and make you feel very welcome and at home. We were hiking the Juliana Trail and so it was perfect we could get a delicious homemade (vegetarian) meal and breakfast. Without a car, this makes it a great place for hikers!

Very special and cozy house in the Triglav National Park

We spent the New Year's eve and two more nights in the house. We immediately fall in love with the accomodation and the neighborhood. The house is surrounded with magical Slovenian forest by Juilana trail, the breathtaking Tolmin gorge is just a short drive away, and several more treasures of the Triglav National Park can be easily explored from here. But if you just want to chill inside you can enjoy the beautiful view from your room or right next to the fireplace. The house gives you the feeling that you are home, the whole place is just super cozy, literally my dream house. The renovated old furnitures and every pieces of this house have something to tell from the good old days and have something you need to experience. You can use the well equipped kitchen for whatever you need but also there is the option to order delicious breakfast made by the host. Many other facilities makes your stay special. The whole space is fulfilled with the hospitality of the hosts. We only met with Roger. He smiles all the time and he is super friendly. If you want some company for sure he is there with his stories but also he leaves you space if you need some time alone. He gave us some advices where it's worth to hike or what is worth to visit, and he offerd to drive us to the next village on New Year's eve to watch the fireworks and experience the local "fun". These days felt like we stayed at one old friend's home. More than recommended!!
