13 Above Town

What a beautiful view from every single window facing the river. I just loved sitting there and soaking in the view. It was really quiet, but very close to the center of Dartmouth and also close to the hills behind Dartmouth where we went to enjoy the view and stuff ourselves with blackberries. Our kids loved playing hide and seek across the four floors. The double bed was extremely comfortable, possibly better than the bed we have at home. We had a few issues that required a handyman and the company that manages the house sent someone over straight away. All in all, it was the nicest holiday house we have ever stayed in and I would definitely recommend it.

I wish the kitchen was a bit better equipped. We really missed a pasta pot with matching lid (so that the water boils faster) and a measuring cup. Also, the smoke detector is awfully close to the cooking area. I accidentally set it off twice while cooking which was really nerve wrecking… but at the same time, it was comforting to know that the smoke detectors are so sensitive. A wardrobe area to hang up jackets would be very nice. We were 5 people and the missing wardrobe was manageable because the weather was good and we didn’t have any wet jackets.

The property should not be marketed as suitable for 6 adults as the smallest bedroom has a pull out bed which is just on wheels and very low to the floor and not suitable for/ large enough for an adult!!!

Fabulous views and location above town. Aside the below points, was a lovely house itself though.

Communications via bookings.com were one way with no responses from hosts at all, which was in fact a Sykes cottages management company that required you to register with them to get any sort of response. This was super frustrating. Car parking is a non starter for a Family car in the garage allocated parking and trying to drive along the road the house is situated on at 3am in the morning was terrifyingly tight (for any car especially mine unfortunately). House is 4 floors with very squeaky floor boards 😅.
