In the tiny village of Aston Somerville, this period property is a peaceful idyll right on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment. Inside it’s all clean design and up to the minute mod cons with flashes of its seventeenth-century heritage—we love the exposed solid oak timber in the master bedroom. Start your mornings with a slap-up breakfast in the formal dining room and throw open the bi-fold doors to the half-acre of gardens that spill into rolling countryside. On a balmy summer’s day, there’s no place we’d rather be than sitting out on the patio, barbecue sizzling away, watching cotton wool clouds drift towards the undulating Dumbleton Hills on the horizon. After muddy yomps through the valleys, kick off your walking shoes and retreat to the sitting room for a hot cup of tea and the roaring log fire. Then when you’re ready for that well-earned pint, it’s a ten-minute car ride to the quaint stone pub in the market town of Tewkesbury.
