Large room, clean and comfortable

Need a separate toilet to the bathroom when it’s a shared facility. Someone had cooked a very strong smelly meal in the shared kitchen.

Lovely, clean room with a homey character. Kitchen had everything you need and bathroom was clean and spacious. Towels are supplied but bring your own toiletries. Des was a great host - very friendly and accommodating, and gave good recommendations for food and sightseeing. Even helped me dry my wet walking boots!

I didn't personally have any issues with the shared bathroom (it was nearly always available when I went to use it) but just to be aware that it is a single toilet, shower, and bath all in one room for single use.

The communal bathroom was huge and clean with a terrific shower. (Bring your own shower gel.) The room was also quite spacious and I loved the eclectic mix of old furniture throughout the house. Lots of room for parking. Helpful reply from owner to restaurant tips question via booking.com. Also a very handy map in the room with restaurant suggestions.

Unfortunately the room smelt musty and after seeing the lovely booking.com photos of light, bright attractive rooms with fresh looking white linen, I was disappointed to see that our room was dark and the bed was covered in a thin slightly worn looking floral duvet cover. We couldn't open the windows for some fresh air because there were a lot of bugs flying about outside, which is, of course, nothing that the hosts could control. Like many other reviewers, I also failed to read the fine print and didn't realize that there was no en-suite bathroom. I don't think there is a separate toilet from the one in the shared bathroom but this was no problem for us as there didn't seem to be anyone else in the house. We never saw the hosts either. A grand old house but it felt a bit deserted.
