This hotel… well, let’s start with the good. The best part is that it’s very close to an area where you can go straight into the sea—and the water is amazing. Like two blocks. I really loved that. It’s also close to everything, though in Ortigia most things are within walking distance anyway. The room itself had all the basics: a comfortable bed, a sofa, a little table, a kitchen, and they even left me coffee and wine, which was a nice touch. I didn’t meet the host in person, but he was kind enough to send clear instructions and recommendations, and even allowed me a few extra minutes for check-out.
That said, I’m not sure I’d fully recommend it. My biggest issue was that there are no real windows. Just a tiny one in the bathroom to let it dry out, and another one directly above the bed, covered with a piece of paper that didn’t block the light properly—so in the morning, sunlight came straight into my eyes and I couldn’t sleep. Apart from that, no windows at all in a two-story apartment, which honestly felt a bit claustrophobic.
The WiFi was terrible—it wouldn’t stay connected at all. The TV didn’t connect either (probably because of the WiFi issues). The shower had no curtain or door, so the bathroom floor was always wet. In my unit, the bed was upstairs in a loft area: the stairs felt wobbly, the ceiling in the stairs was so low that even I (and I’m short) hit my head , and there’s no light switch accessible from one floor to the other, so going up or down at night felt unsafe. It’s located in an alley that feels a bit unpleasant, and it also smells bad. (The alleys in the other side of Giudecca, for example, were really lovely)
The terrace was lovely but there was no shadow.
