Cozy with Character Cochrane Cottage at Leith Links Park

I would love to go back. This is a ground floor flat in a city, but honestly felt like a little cottage in the country. Beautifully decorated and a very cosy feel to it. Little front garden meant the property sat back a bit from the road. My dog absolutely loved the park (Leith Links, which you should google for its interesting history) which was literally around the corner, and we loved how close we were to Leith Walk (walking distance), with lots of restaurants and bars and even closer to us was a tesco superstore and lots of takeaway restaurants within a short distance. Parking on the street wasn't impossible, and I did manage most evenings but be aware that it is an extremely narrow street, and if I had a big car I wouldn't have attempted it. However, there was plenty of parking around Leith Links, so it was never a hardship. My only downside with the property was the tiny washbasins, but that's fairly insignificant and didn't detract from out stay.

The location was great and a short bus ride to Edinburgh city centre. It is a lovely little cottage style home that is very welcoming. As a family we are very grateful to have stayed here. It was great to have a washing machine available and the master bed was very comfortable. The property was warm and dispite the narrow street for a people carrier car to get down, there was a parking spot always available for our car. The neighbourhood seemed friendly enough and it was great to experience Leith life here. The kids absolutely loved the extra touches here of puzzles and toys to play with. They must of made those puzzles tens of times. There was a lovely little Christmas tree and it really did feel like home here. The hosts have made an informative information pack about the area which we found helpful. We enjoyed it here and would come back again.

The futon bed was a conundrum to work out and once we made it a bed we left it that way for ease and a stress free stay. Trouble is, once it is made up you can't have the gas fire on because it is too close to the bed as a fire hazzard. My son said the futon in the master bedroom was comfy which was a plus and much easier to set up. The property was a little dirty on arrival. Lots of dirty hand marks on the fridge and stains on the wall by the bin and the wooden floor was still wet in places on our arrival at 4pm. The toilet is very tight and small. It was ok for us but if you are bigger than a size 16 dress size you are going to have trouble getting in there and shutting the door.
