Dulverton is a quaint little town. We enjoyed our short walk exploring the place. Special mention to the town hall that opened so people can watch the England rugby match. The drinks were very reasonably priced and they even had nibbles for free.

Family run hotel with friendly service and great value for money food
It’s a historic property and maybe a bit “tired” but atmosphere and service made up for that.

Its so well located and reasonably priced, it fits us very well. Breakfast is great too.
We were a bit cold but given how bad the weather was! No complaints.

The room was comfortable and cosy, the staff were welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious
The room was a little tired, grouting and spider webs so they need a refresh but I appreciate it's a very old building

Basic hotel room, but clean and comfortable. Excellent food in the evening and at breakfast.
The shower in one of the rooms was poor.

Charming old-fashioned English country hotel in a wonderful location at the heart of Dulverton, very sympathetically decorated and furnished. Breakfast was good too.
The decor in the bathroom was a little tatty.

The Lion Hotel was charming, the breakfast was the perfect start to our day. The staff were very helpful and allowed us a check late after our pony trek and extended check out due to our car breaking down. They gave us details of a local garage & mechanic who might help.

breakfast was wonderful
sadly the hotel and whole area has seen better days. the lady that checked us in, I dont think she would choose to do the job if she had a choice. The lady serving breakfast and generally running around after everybody should be the front of house (and paid for it)

Good quality breakfast with very good service, amazing location for exploring Exmoor and better value than other hotels nearby. Room was cozy and had the facilities we would expect at that price. Room was larger than expected with good storage.

Good base for exploring exmoor. I stayed for three days. Breakfast was cooked to order. Evening meals not always available, but the pizza on Monday night was very good. Car parking limited to on-street outside the hotel or in nearby public car park. I always managed to find a space just outside.

Location was suitable for me
A tired property, waited ages for breakfast- they could only manage one table at a time. By time it came my children had given up. So we left it.

The location is fantastic, close to all amenities. It is also ideally situated to visit other attractions nearby eg Tarr Steps, Lynton and Lynmouth, Valley of the Rocks etc.
The hosts were superb - very friendly and accommodating.
Food scores 10/10! It was delicious and homemade.
Bedrooms - tv (small), clean linen, good sized bathroom, hairdryer available plus enough drawers and a wardrobe.
Wi-fi available.
Lovely atmosphere - we often all chatted at mealtimes, although there is no pressure to if you wish for some time on your own.
I would thoroughly recommend the hotel.
The rooms were a little tired and dusty. The lining paper on the ceiling was coming away.
The restaurant is not open every evening (this did not bother me at all but it may be worth considering. There are other options in Dulverton and there is a small co-op across the road).
Despite these, I had a great time.

Location very good & convenient for exploring Exmoor & Dunster Show. Fortunate to get one of the 3 parking spaces outside the hotel-having dogs does mean you have extra baggage etc. Our welcome was by a very jolly lady.
Unfortunately we were informed on arrival that the Chef was unwell & no meals available that evening however there were many eating places close by. I had been informed on booking that they did not cater for Lactose intolerance-I agreed to bring my own no problems. Breakfast was entirely mis-managed which appeared not to have been forward planned. There were many guests & a printed menu on each table would have speeded up the process, also self-service of cereals etc. (usually the norm)-choice was limited corn flakes/granola. Fresh fruit limited to a few slices of banana or apple. My toast never arr-my friend who opted for poached egg on toast commented that the toast was 'soggy'. Another guest handled the coffee percolator to other guests-otherwise fill-ups would not have likely happened. Most guests were keen to get on with there visiting of the area. I had no information about the fee charged for pets. My breakfast certainly was not value for money.

A beautiful ancient coaching inn, complete with a "Ghost", Mildred!
I didn't see her, but I think she maybe chose the decor in my room in the 1700s?
My room was a single room at the front,a good size for a single and a decent ensuite with a bath and shower over.
Bed was comfy, bedding nice quality.
The decor was ancient ,but clean.
Breakfast was beautifully presented, cooked and lovely quality sausages/bacon etc.
The inn is full of character, peaceful, friendly, but it needs the ancient decor sorting.
I HATE cheap sausages!!
Decor, my bedroom has curtain hooks rail falling to bits, same with my wardrobe drawer and ceiling light fitting too.
Not acceptable really, does noone ever check these things and fix them??
WiFi was terrible, it was very 'intermittent'.
All in all, overpriced ££££s for the single room I was given.😥
And I got a good "Genius Level" discount too.
I found out why!!

Dinner limited to pizza

They had no problem catering for my gluten and lactose intolerance. They were very helpful and friendly. Toiletries in the room were lovely and the single bed extremely comfortable. My view looked right down the main street one way and up to the church the other. So l9vely!
Not a big issue but the plug was missing from the wash basin. Not a problem as I used the bath and shower.

Excellent breakfast, hotel location good for exploring Exmoor.
Hotel in need of a good makeover. In our room (8) wallpaper hanging off the walls and ceiling, smelly toilet and had to wedge window open with a book.
Only evening meals available on Monday pizza, Tuesday curry. This was not mentioned in booking details so no choice but to find somewhere else to eat at short notice.
Luckily Bridge Inn was able to find us a table.

Great location close to Exmoor in super interesting little village.
An older property could do with a little refurbishment ( plumbing was a little quirky!)but everything was clean so barely a complaint that it was just a little tired looking in the room
