A l'Ombre des Papes

Ce studio trés proche de tout dans une petite rue calme typique d'Avignon ou il ne manque rien.Super pour 2 personnes.

La posizione ottima al centro ed ai parcheggi principali se si arriva in auto. Zona tranquilla. L’appartamento è un sottotetto ed ha tutto il necessario negli spazi che permette. Pulito e ordinato. Per chi legge i commenti precedenti la tv rotta non c’era ma è stato proprio rimosso il supporto a muro quindi nessuna tv (per noi non era importante). Se si accettano i compromessi si riesce a stare senza problemi, noi eravamo due adulti e un bambino che ha dormito con noi.

Forte odore di muffa e umido fin dall’ingresso e la terza notte abbiamo capito come mai: in caso di pioggia (nel nostro caso un temporale forte ma non un uragano) ha piovuto nella stanza e ovunque nella struttura (c’era acqua per le scale e anche all’ingresso principale letteralmente una pozzanghera). In camera ha piovuto anche sul letto, giù dai travi, lungo i muri.. ovunque. Abbiamo avvisato i proprietari il mattino seguente. Hanno risposto un giorno dopo manifestando stupore per l’accaduto e che avrebbero fatto vedere il tutto al loro artigiano nonché mandato le pulizie per il cambio della biancheria fradicia (abbiamo dovuto usare tutti gli asciugamani disponibili) ma non è mai venuto nessuno. Che non lo sapessero è impossibile: i travi i mobili il pavimento i battiscopa tutto era già gonfio e scuro da acqua assorbita in passato. La camera non si può arieggiare perchè l’unica finestra ha gli scuri che non si bloccano aperti e la finestra non è vasistas. Dentro umido e tutti i nostri abiti odoravano di muffa. Come altri segnalano i codici per le chiavi arrivano all’ultimo, o dopo l’ultimo, oppure non arrivano (in vista della partenza non ci scrivono preventivamente e alla nostra richiesta rispondono ore dopo che eravamo già in viaggio). Come in altri commenti per salire ci sono due rampe di scale strettissime (lo avevamo letto e ne eravamo consapevoli ma andrebbe evidenziato perché rischia di esser un problema).

Location

The room had a noticeable cigarette odour left by the previous guest, who apparently also broke the TV. I don’t watch TV, so that wasn’t a problem for me, but it gives an idea of the overall maintenance. The shower was fine, but the Italian shower wasn’t working. There were no basic amenities such as shower gel or shampoo, which are expected these days, especially at this rate (actually higher than the Bristol Hotel, which I strongly recommend). No hair dryer either. Apart from the convenient location, there isn’t much positive to mention.

The studio (l'ombre des papes) is perfectly located, in a very quiet area, near everything. The main bed is comfortable, but the sofa bed not too much. Everything was clean and you could actually feel the smell of cleaning products when entered.

It's good for 2 people, and maybe a bit too tight for 3, specially once de sofa bed is open (you will barely have space to walk around). There are stairs to go up which were not problem for us, but mind it. The fixed shower head doesn't work and there is no support for the handheld so you have to take your showers holding it with your hand; a problem for my father (63) with shoulder mobility problems and inconvenient for whoever has long hair. We stayed for 3 days (May) and it rained a lot, unfortunately- apparently something rare in Avignon- the ceiling was leaking in 3 different spots one night and another 2 in the second one (2 leaks falling in the bed, so half of the bed could not be used). The host offered to cancel our reservation, which is obviously not a solution, so 2 of us slept in the sofa bed which was very uncomfortable. We didn't received check out instructions or any code to put the keys back in the box.
