Comfortable stay, secure bicycle storage, and amazing food!

Lovely room above the coffee shop. There is also secure bicycle storage on site. Anna was so wonderful and kind, she made our stay perfect! Also, eat here for your meals, the food is fantastic and you can sit out on the patio! 😊

A great place to stay a few days to explore Nevers

Location. On a plaza by the river and bridge. Everything in old Nevers was within walking distance. The attic room we were in was spacious and had a great view of the plaza and river. The hosts were very friendly and are native English speakers. They provided a good place nearby to keep our bikes where we could access them during our stay. The waitress we had at the restaurant on Sunday afternoon was great and allowed us to order the charcuterie plate even though it was an evening only offering.

The steps to the room could be a problem for some. The restaurant was not open on Sunday evening and closed all day Monday and Tuesday.

A stay is a combination of hospitality and comfort and both were delivered with generousity.

Location was great on the Loire, access the old quarter and the La Loire a Velo. The room had a separate bathroom and a kitchen eating area for common use.

Exceptional

Cafe Vélo offers a really warm welcome, with a lovely atmosphere and outlook. The room was exceptionally comfortable and well equipped. The café itself offers great food and drink, and is clearly a social hub with tables both inside and out. It's the sort of place we'd love to have in our own home town. Thank you to Anna and Charles, and their staff for a great experience.

Best location and lovely owners, just wish it had air con

The owners are lovely people, stopping to have a chat when they see you. All the staff were also friendly. Ideal location for the river and seeing the sights of Nevers. Safe bicycle storage in a small locked garage near the accommodation. Fully self-contained - easy to prepare meals. Delicious cafe underneath if you don’t want to cook.

In >30° temperatures the fan struggles to keep the place cool. The windows can’t be left open at night to cool it down due to the noise of people outside until about 1am - 2am. To be fair we knew all this before staying, but the location and bike facilities outweighed the discomfort.

A randonneurs dream: Where French cycling, Italian coffee and British home baking come together

What's not to like? A very friendly welcome by Charles and his team, a safe place to store the tandem, great coffee, a nice chat with fellow cyclists, choice for breakfast including a superb overnight oats and Yorkshire tea with milk! And a good bicycle pump !

TOP CLASS SERVICE AND LOCATION

The location, the whole set up of the café/restaurant and accommodation. Most of all the great hosts and personalised service. And we also got recommendations for the best pizza in town and were introduced to another local bar where we were well looked after as the hosts had had a quiet word with them to make sure we were ok.

Everything was on point and we had the added bonus of our own kitchen which we did not use but will do next time we stay.

It is on the cycle path. it has a cafe attached. It is spotless. The hosts speak fluent English and French. There is secure bike parking. The rooms have a small shared kitchen. and the staff are super helpful.

it’s near to the Eurovelo route. facilities are clean and the best part is there is a washing machine (although on shared basis). there is also a locked garage where you can keep your bicycle.

If you are a cyclist or not this is the perfect place to stay. Great facilities, close to town centre and great cafe below 🍻 Having got into Nevers after 220km of cycling the welcome couldn't have been warmer and the use of a washing machine was the cherry on top.

As a cyclist this was perfect but for any other traveller it is highly recommendable, especially the hungry traveller. Anna and Charlie make a fine team catering for all my unusual needs like washing my kit and bike storage. The food and company they provide the lone traveller is beautiful. The bed was high quality as with everything else. Great shower and bathroom. Charlie cooks up a storm in the busy kitchen in the evening while Anna is up early to bake. Fantastically located to train station and evening entertainment hot spots.

Very good

Extremely friendly owners, a British couple who have lived in France for decades. My charging cable failed, and the owner insisted on taking me to a store because my leg was injured. The room and bath were both very nice. I'd definitely like to return here if I have the good fortune to revisit Nevers. All in all a very good choice.

I wish there was a banister in the stairwell. It's an old building with worn stairs, and it would be safer. Maybe it's just me, but I found the bed too low. Beds should be chair height, so it's easy to stand up. These are certainly not dealbreakers.

For a Cyclist or Tourist, a great choice for a Nevers stopover.

So glad we choose Cafe Velo for a 2 day rest stop in Nevers on a Eurovelo 6 cycle trip. As soon as we arrived we were offered a refreshing drink to recover after our ride. Our accomodation was excellent, a spacious room and a comfortable bed. There was also a common room with cooking facilities and a washing machine if needed. Our bikes were stored securely in a locked garage. The highlight for us was the food, after 5 weeks of French breakfasts, to be offered bacon and eggs was a relief, we even had lunch at Cafe Velo. Well located, only a short walk to the centre ville of Nevers. Hosted by friendly, helpful English speaking cycle aficionados, whether you are cycling or just a tourist, we highly recommend Cafe Velo.

A must stop for cycle tourists!

Great hosts that took a personal interest in making our overnight stay enjoyable; lent us Loire cycle guide books to peruse, and even left some goodies leftover from the cafe! The cafe itself draws in other cycling enthusiasts.The upper apartment is brand new, very comfortable and well appointed, with everything you need, with views of the Loire and the bridge.

Nothing really…the street in front is just two lanes, but a bit busy at rush hour, but didn’t bother us at all.

Superb

Great hosts in a great café, where they have a few rooms perfectly tailored to bike tourists. There is an option to store your bikes in the café. Our room was very big and had a very nice view of the Loire. Even though the Café/room is situated directly on a big road, there was no traffic noise during the night. Floors are crooked, which only adds to the charm. Bathroom is modern and seems newly renovated. Beds were very comfortable!

The only downside is that there is no official breakfast, but the hosts gave us some muffins from the day before to take along on our bike trip, and also offered to fry us some egg and bacon, if we wanted, which was very nice :)

Heerlijke plek, goede vibe voor fietsers op doorreis!

Echt een hele fijne plek met goed terras, hier wordt met liefde voor je gezorgd! De kamer was klein, maar rustig gelegen en ook heel fijn dat er een kleine gemeenschappelijke keuken was.

Jammer dat de pap op was (ontbijt) en we zijn geen fan van het plastic onderlaken op het matras . Maar buiten dat is het een absolute aanrader.

Velo Stopp

Tolle Lage praktisch direkt an der Loire. Die Velos kann man in einer kleinen Garage abschliessen. Es gibt auch eine Gemeinschaftsküche mit Kühlschrank, sehr praktisch. Das Café ist gemütlich und man kann Café Vélo Produkte kaufen.

Das Café hatte fürs Frühstück leider nicht geöffnet, aber es ist halt nicht jeden Tag offen.
