These apartments are beautifully designed and decorated with genuine care and attention to every detail, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately feels like home. As passionate food lovers ourselves—especially when it comes to homemade pita bread and taramasalata—we were delighted to find a kitchen equipped with everything needed to prepare meals comfortably. There is also a washing machine available, which is a great convenience for longer stays. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, ensuring restful nights, and there is plenty of storage space for luggage and personal belongings. The location is simply perfect. Situated on the hillside between Matala’s main beach and the famous Red Beach, both can be reached easily on foot. From the balcony, you can enjoy glimpses of the sea and the iconic Matala caves, while the sounds of live music gently drift through the air, adding to the magical atmosphere. Yet don’t be fooled—once inside the apartment, it is wonderfully peaceful and quiet. Although only a few steps away from the vibrant heart of Matala, you can still enjoy complete relaxation and tranquility. What truly makes this place exceptional, however, is the host. Her hospitality is second to none. Every question was answered quickly and thoroughly, and from the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely cared for. We were welcomed with delicious local treats and a warmth that made us feel like honored guests rather than tourists. This was one of those rare places that leaves a lasting impression long after the trip is over. We sincerely hope to return one day and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Matala. 10/10 – an unforgettable stay and a perfect blend of comfort, location, authenticity, and outstanding hospitality. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Très bien placé dans Matala. Petite vue sur mer de la terasse. Appartement cosy, bien équipé et avec literie confortable.

Le soleil a du mal à rentré dans l’appartement ce qui peux être un avantage en pleine été mais un désavantage en début de saison. Salle de bain pas très moderne avec pression d’eau variable. Quelque petit soucis, mais nous étions les premiers locataires de la saison, donc je pense que ça devrait s’arranger ( chasse d’eau en panne, cafetière très entartrée, pas d’eau chaude le premier matin)

I recently stayed at Lux Cave in Malala, Crete, and had an exceptional experience. The apartment is beautifully situated close to the center of the village, offering the perfect balance between convenience and tranquility. We loved that it was not too far from the action, yet far enough to avoid any noise from the concerts when we wanted to sleep early. The view of the sea from the apartment was stunning, and everything inside felt brand new—as if we were the very first guests. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings was impressive, and it made our stay even more enjoyable. The host was incredibly generous, providing plenty of gifts upon our arrival, including food for breakfast like donuts and cake, juice, a bottle of raki, and even a painting set as a gift for my daughter. These thoughtful touches really made us feel welcome. Overall, Lux Cave provided a perfect retreat, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay in Malala.

One thing to note is that the path to the apartment is quite steep, which might be challenging for some. However, the peace and views you get once you’re there are well worth it.
