    ​I am writing this review to warn other travelers about the numerous issues we faced during our stay at the Sphinx Aqua Park Resort (also known as King Tut) in Hurghada. ​My first major problem began at check-in. The hotel claimed there was a "nationality issue" and that the promotional price I had booked was for a different nationality. This was a clear scam. They then forced us to pay an additional $400 USD (they were asking for 500), claiming they would not allow us to check in or cancel the reservation for a full refund. We were left with no choice but to pay and later inform the booking platform about this charge. ​The problems continued throughout our stay. The service was inconsistent. While some staff were gentle and helpful, others were unhelpful and seemed to not care. There was no hot water in our room for the entire duration of our stay. We also had issues with the air conditioner, which made a lot of noise. We reported both problems, but despite their promises to fix them, nothing was ever done. ​The food was catastrophic and a serious health concern. The food was not fresh or delicious, and the "juice" was just water with added flavorings. Morevover, basic amenities were also missing and we had to ask for coffee, tea, and a daily bottle of water for the room. ​The hotel also promotes what they call "free" entertainment. However, we found that certain night parties and fire shows were not included and required an additional fee, and from what I saw from my balcony, the shows were not even worth the money. ​Overall, this was a very bad experience, and I strongly advise others to avoid this resort (Sphinx and King Tut - they are the same).
