Great location for visiting Barossa Valley wineries. Really appreciated the welcome hamper. Beautiful property and lovely staff.
Incredibly cold downstairs - towels in bathroom couldn’t dry at all. Upstairs split system warmed upstairs well but it didn’t travel down at all. Very loud split system. Lots of bugs in the bathroom and cobwebs in the bedroom, and didn’t love the extremely early wakeup from the roosters and animals scratching on the roof! Recommend overall though.

Nice quiet location, comfortable rooms, the pretty garden and ponds
The property is pleasant, but our stay over Christmas was overshadowed by poor communication, misrepresentations, excuses and inadequate facilities. Signage on arrival was incorrect, and we were “upgraded” to The Stables, where the hot water was off and the washing machine showed an error. There was no oven or stovetop (only two plug in hotplates and an old barbecue), no apron, spare towels, washing basket or matches, and an iron, but no ironing board. Reaching the correct contact was difficult. The manager took 1.5 hours to respond to my call, voice message and text. The signage is outdated and still has the previous owner’s details, although they’d sold six months earlier. The new owner did not understand the issues, and while onsite, could not address them, as she is elderly and “barely able to walk”. Eventually, we resolved the hot water and washing machine issues ourselves. The manager did not respond until approximately 8 HOURS after she’d finally returned my call. It was well past business hours, and getting anyone to assist would have been impossible. The barbecue - essential without a stovetop or oven - was damaged and rusty, and there were no matches. The manager became defensive and suggested that we “check out and go elsewhere”, threatening to leave us homeless at Christmas. Later, the owner called but repeated earlier misunderstandings and offered little practical help. Only when the actual caretaker arrived unexpectedly that evening - after the manager claimed that my husband had been “aggressive” and that police might be called, which was unfounded - did we finally receive calm, practical assistance and access to the Hayloft kitchen if needed. Staying at Barossa Valley Springton Cottages was far more stressful than it should have been. We were eventually able to relax and enjoy our Christmas Day, but better communication, accurate information, and satisfactory facilities would have made it significantly better.
