The Croft House

There is nothing better than having a house to stay in where your neighbors and sheep, horses, and cows. The house was the comforts of home without being home. The house was wonderfully clean, the kitchen was well stocked with any pots, pans, or equipment you may need to prepare meals. Just make sure you research a grocery store well in advance before heading out to Skye. The beds were comfy, the living space was wonderful for settling in at night, and the window nook was a great place to start the day.

Getting the water temperature just right for showering was a bit tricky.

Location was amazing. It would be worth it just to sit in the window and seat and look at the view. I liked the kitchen, and the washing machine. I liked that heat was individual to each room. I liked the decor, and the binoculars and telescope were great to use. I loved the animals all around the neighborhood. I liked that it was not busy like Portree.

Kitchen needed more oven friendly trays. Shower water kept changing from normal temp to boiling hot, then cold and back. Host didn't respond to my question, luckily it wasn't a big deal.

The view

No oven mitts or tea towels supplied and no hand soap in kitchen dispenser. Travelers are expected to strip beds and bag linen. The instructions mention a garbage schedule but it isn’t there so old information needs to be updated. Cleaning person was waiting for us to leave at 9:45. Cost was substantial so we expected more. This was the most expensive place we stayed in our 2 week holiday around Ireland and Scotland.

The beds we’re comfortable and the guides for how to use everything in the house were excellent. Spacious.

Getting to it is nerve wracking with lots of dangerous pot holes and there is a gate one must open towards the road in order to park. There is sheep dung everywhere on the road and front part of driveway where one needs to get out of car to open the gate. We also could not figure out the front door lock with key. It’s also a very remote area of the island.
