Wonderful stay!

The hut is absolutely fantastic equipped with everything you need including garden furniture and BBQ to enjoy the evenings taking in the breathing views. Tucked away in a remote and peaceful location surrounded by nature and wildlife. We loved watching and feeding the animals! We felt truly spoilt with all the additional touches - the fresh bread was delicious. Wonderful hosts who made our trip so special. We will definitely be back to Shabby Shepherds.

Luxury glamping at its best with thoughtful and kind hosts not too far away for anything you need.

I thought the price of this wonderful glamping option was insanely reasonable. On arrival the excellent and welcoming host takes you round everything that you need to know about the funky hut. As part of a welcome, the hosts provided homemade bread, as well as some milk, butter and a descent stash of eggs. There's also lots of other little touches that we were pleased with. The bathroom has good towels and toiletries. The best thing about this style of accommodation is that you get to sit out at night, look at the stars away from light pollution and sit by the provided fire pit (wood and kindling and fire starters were also provided). The bed was comfortable considering it folds down from the wall. They even provide animals for you to pet right by the hut. They own sheep and alpacas which you can pet/ look at from your accommodation (they provide food for you to feed alpacas if you want). Pub was within walking distance and they serve food if you are so inclined. If you get the chance - stay here.

For the nature of this accommodation, I could not think of anything that could have been improved.

We had an absolutely fabulous break! Hosts so welcoming and helpful. Beautiful scenery, so peaceful and lovely to see the animals - fire pit was fantastic (going to purchase one now!) Cannot recommend enough and we will definitely be back!

Thank you for our last get away before the twins arrive

How well we got treated by the owners, they are the kindest and loveliest people we've met! Providing delicious homemade bread, butter and eggs and many more, they made us feel extremely welcomed and lovely to chat too, felt safe and content with my surroundings. The view was outstanding, especially during a warm evening where you're eating your food and looking at the beautiful scenery! We are very lucky to have ended up coming here for our last little getaway before our twins arrived, it was a last minute getaway as we were looking for a hotel and came across shabby shepherds and we weren't really expecting much but we 100% got a lot more than we ever thought and are extremely grateful for what Simon and Viv provided for us! We were still keeping our promise to come back after the twins arrived! Thank you so much for such a wonderful weekend

Fantastic weekend in the Eden Valley

Excellent stay. The shepherds hut was well laid out and very comfortable with all mod cons, including full size shower and toilet. The location was tip top with peace and quiet and fantastic views right from your front door, but with a good pub 5 minutes down the road And the hosts Simon & Viv were very welcoming indeed. I'd heartily recommend.

An amazing little getaway

An amazing experience from beginning to end. Viv and Simon were very pleasant and helpful, stunning views and lovely accommodation. The shepherd's hut was more spacious than we anticipated and was everything we hoped for and more.

Fantastic & Magical. Unforgettable stay.

The warm welcome from Simon & Viv. The local knowledge of the surrounding area and the Lakes. all the added touches with fresh eggs & bread. Ohhhh… and not forgetting our chocolate Easter egg 🍫 we both loved our stay and enjoying the company from the Alpacas and farm animals. We will be back.

Absolutely amazing stay can't fault anything! Simon was so welcoming and gave us fantastic recommendations of where to visit! The accommodation is stunning and all heated nicely! All facilities you could want - even had vegan bread and wine waiting for us! Views were amazing and so were the animals! Do not hesitate to book!!!!!

Peaceful haven

Extremely helpful, friendly hosts. Beautifully finished accommodation and idyllic location. Lots of lovely little touches - wine, bread, eggs left for us. Animal food so we could feed the alpacas and plenty of wood for the firepit. It was lovely to be able to sit out and stargaze on a cool October evening.

Perfect romantic weekend away!

EVERYTHING! The chalet itself had everything we could possibly need. Including kindly leaving us eggs from the chickens, fresh bread and Prosecco for my birthday. The pull down bed was very comfy and all the amenities were spotless and great to use.

The homebaked loaf, and fresh eggs meeting us in the hut were incredible. Viv and Simon were both so friendly and approachable, and everything was explained very clearly. The fact that so many consumables (fire logs, toiletries, firestarters) were free was much appreciated. The location was stunning, especially in the mornings, and being able to approach and feed the animals was brilliant. We will definitely be heading back, and would highly recommend this property, especially for couples looking for some peace and quiet, and a relaxing time.

Exceptional

We had a pleasure to visit this amazing place. The hut is brilliant and is fully equipped from dishes to cosmetics. The bed is comfy. Simon and Viv prepared the welcoming set (a homemade bread, milk, butter, free-range eggs and jams) so it was really nice. You can find the board games and blankets in the cupboard and the eco cosmetics in the bathroom. The cosy hut is located on the Eden Valley so you can enjoy stunning views. There is also a firepit. Simon and Viv gave us opportunity of meeting and feeding their animals (the alpacas, sheep, hens and horses) that were ours neighbours. Could it be better? Hosts are kind and helpfull and make your stay unforgettable. I recomend this place for everyone.

We loved the whole experience. Everything was amazing and we felt so welcomed. Exceptional hosts who looked after us well and truly. All the little goodies added the cherry on top.

The most perfect stay in a beautiful location

Our experience of staying at Shabby Shepherd's was exceptional. The location of the hut was perfect for exploring Cumbria and then returning to hang out at the hut overlooking the beautiful scenery. Simon and Viv were extremely welcoming - we felt at ease and relaxed instantly and their warm welcome played a huge factor. They have some great tips for local walks and eateries, and they really gave a sense of community spirit. The hut itself had everything we needed for a cosy stay, including an extremely comfortable bed and lovely welcome treats. We can't thank our hosts enough, including Bryan the sheep.

Exceptional and exceeded our expectations, beautiful setting.

We had such a lovely stay, and the place really exceeded our expectations. The views where amazing even in the rain and windy weather. The place was really clean, comfortable and the bread, wine and fresh eggs where a lovely extra. Hosts where incredibly helpful, and friendly and helped us with what to do in the area and where to eat. We absolutely loved Bryan the sheep ( who we already miss), feeding the Alpacas, and being able to hold a lamb was lovely. We hope to return and to explore more of the area. Thank you for such an amazing stay.

Beautiful, peaceful spot with amazing hosts

I can't say enough good things about the Shabby Shepherds. We arrived to find a lovely selection of food, including local wine, bread, butter and eggs from our hosts' chickens. The Shepherd's hut is very well kitted out and beatifully finished inside. The location is amazing – you have a view of the entire Eden valley from your own field. The best thing about this place, though, had to be our hosts. Simon and Viv went the extra mile and then some to be helpful and welcoming. They offered personal recommendations for walks and things to do in the area, made sure we were enjoying our stay and were happy to stop for a chat. This is a truly exceptional place to stay and we'll be booking in again.
