We booked into a hotel with facilities. Instead we ended up in a room. A bit misleading

The location is perfect, the hotel was very clean and in fact the cleaning staff were the kindest to us. The rooms with sea view do offer a pleasant view.
Overall this stay was disappointing from the moment we checked in. Yes, the rooms on the higher floors are outdated. I was expecting this from the reviews, but what was unacceptable in the ancient bathroom were simple things that could be fixed. For example, there was an uncapped pipe sticking out of the wall right outside the shower. I scraped my side on it when getting out of the shower. Very simple to cut, cap and make it safe. But worse than the dated rooms was the business sense and hospitality.
So much could be done to improve their relations with clients if they care to do so. We booked three nights in a more expensive room. They asked for full payment upon arrival which is a little gauche. We arrived early because of our train schedule. I had advised the hotel the day before that we were happy to leave our bags and wait for check in-- but the attitude when we arrived was as if we had no business showing up early. Not even some water offered after traveling on a hot day. We inquired about adding the salty breakfast, which is another 5eur a day. When we asked what was included with it, only at that point did the owner chime in to say that for 5eur we can't have everything. That's not what we asked, we simply asked to know what we could have. They then made us choose what we wanted, which absolutely did not match what we ended up being served every morning of our stay. We then had to prompt them for advice on where to go to the beach, really no willingness to be helpful. I asked if they had beach towels and it was as if I asked the woman for a kidney. We were told to go buy them. We have never stayed at a beachfront accommodation that has no beach towels. They also sent us to a lido which does not accept dogs. As a dog friendly hotel, they should know this. And on the topic of dogs:
They charged us 15EUR per night for a Chihuahua, even though their website has a 10eur price for small dogs. This is one of the most expensive pet fees we have ever paid.
