A Friendly and hospitable host, location and good facilities. Walking distance to a shopping Mall and and to tourist areas. Good access to public transport. The apartment inside was well designed and equipped. There was a small ancient lift which made life easier. It was a comfortable apartment for a 5 day visit to a great city.

The host informed me she was unable to accept payment by credit card. This was strange. I eventually found an ATM which accepted my card but it required 3 transactions to obtain payment in local currency. These transactions totalled an additional 21 euros. However, the insistence on payment in cash raises a perception of a wider issue of tax evasion. Given the EU aspirations of Ukraine, the fact of the War and the work of volunteers from many countries in ukraine any conduct which might reasonably give rise to a suspicion of tax evasion is not acceptable. Further, Booking. Com might itself review its practices so that it is not open to the allegation of being an enabler, or complicit in, conduct that may constitute tax evasion. Any suggestion of payment in cash is inherently suspicious.
