Apartamente Berti`s Garden

The host, 'Mr. Berti" is very nice. I was in desperate need for medication and he went with me to the pharmacy. It's the main reason why I rated it excelent. The location is close to everything you need and to the city center. Everyday we had fresh towels and our room cleaned. Top notch service.

Parking is not on premises, you have to climb 151 steps (yes, I counted them - which is a pain to do). It's not an apartment, no living room, no kitchen, just 2 rooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds which you can put together, that is after you move a small wardrobe. The balcony is not the one displayed, that is the common one. We had a narrow and long balcony - albeit with a nice view of the sea and Corfu. I honestly have mixed feelings.

I stayed in room number 4, the only ground-floor room with a sea view from the balcony. The owner was very nice, and the two ladies who cleaned the apartment did an amazing job keeping everything very clean and tidy. However, the mattresses in room 4 were too hard for our taste, making it difficult to sleep. This might be subjective as we are used to softer mattresses. The owner kindly offered us a switch to room 2, which had comfortable mattresses, but we declined because it didn't have the sea view. Saranda has areas with an unpleasant sewage smell, which we occasionally noticed in our toilet. Despite this, the cleaning ladies kept the bathroom exceptionally clean. The toilet had a ventilation system but no window. Additionally, the shower in room 4 lacked a door or curtain, causing the floor to get wet. This seems like a temporary issue, possibly due to a recent breakage. There is a fantastic bakery across the street with delicious cakes and coffee. The first beach is accessible via 120 stairs, and there’s a great beach bar and restaurant at the bottom. It's a 30-40 minute walk to the main city beach. The shared terrace is spacious, adorned with beautiful flowers and plants, and we loved spending time there. Overall, we felt very safe and secure during our stay.

Parking in Saranda is generally free and people park on the street. We were a bit surprised that there was no reserved parking spot for us despite booking an apartment with parking. When we arrived in the evening, there was no street parking available. The owner offered us a spot in a hotel parking area, but it was far from the apartment and required navigating many stairs as it was up a hill. For the remaining nights, we developed a strategy to find street parking, which involved timing our returns to secure a spot. This was a bit of a hassle but manageable.
