Adequate for our purposes

This hotel was perfectly adequate for our needs. The location was superb just beside the train station and also the International Bus Departure Point for Sofia. We were able to walk to the sea front. The decor is all a bit dated and tired but that is pretty much what we had expected. The room was large but there were no extras or frills. The staff on the desk were very friendly and polite. We would probably stay here again if we were transiting through Thessaloniki.

As mentioned by others the toilet was squeezed into a corner of the bathroom and a bit awkward to get to. Also the shower had no screen at the front so the bathroom floor got very wet. The whole place could do with modernisation.

Budget hotel

The location is okay if you want to be near the train station and a walking distance to Ladadika area.

There is no available parking by the hotel, either you have to pay 15€ /day or park the car somewhere in the back streets. The staff weren’t helpful in providing options for this, they only recommended the 15€ parking next to them. The room is extremely small, the bed cover is very thin we were freezing all night. The bathroom had no hangers and place to put your toiletries. The door to the bathroom had a 5cm gap so going to the toilet wasn’t really private. There was not even a single small water in the room and the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke.

Disappointing

This hotel is close to three locations, the city centre, the station and KTEL--and all the reception staff were caring-- but that is all.

Although its price is relatively cheaper the service does not match. The shower room was somehow wet and sloppy when I checked in. In addition, the cloak had considerable dust so I cannot describe the room as something clean. Aside that, every wall of the room was thin enough to let me hear every noise other guests and the birds upon the building made. I also tried breakfast service with an extra fee but it was awful too.

The staff were really polite and helpful. Also they let me check in early in the morning.

Bathroom was a big problem. Toilet seat was too close to the shower. Is was a real torture. I couldn't even sit properly. The sink in the bathroom was leaking water, and each time I try to wash my hands or wash my face the bathroom floor would be flooded. I was in a room on the sixth floor. Don't know if all the rooms are so bad. This one was terrible. Also, the balcony door couldn't close. It was freezing during night. I was there for two nights and I couldn't sleep. The bad was making a squeaky noise and it was really uncomfortable.

The bus station is nearby, which is a plus. The quay is also very close. As the bus had arrived earlier than I thought, the receptionist allowed me to put the bag in a safe place while my room was getting ready, so I could take a short walk in the meantime.

The booking confirmation stated that it was a non-smoking room, however, it didn't seem to be the case. I didn't see any signs about it, and smoke could be smelled (apparently coming from other rooms). The street is very noisy even at night, and the windows couldn't help it.

A clean and comfortable hotel

I always stay at Hotel Rex when I'm in Thessaloniki. I like it's proximity to the train station and I find it a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are plenty of good places to eat and drink a short walk away.

Exactly what it said on the tin: Pet friendly, nice staff, easy location, good price.

The staff were amazingly sweet and polite. The location was great; extremely close to the train station and near everything within walking distance. I loved that the hotel was pet friendly without extra charge.

The bed could have been comfier, but honestly I got what I paid for. I don't like the whole charade of leaving the key at reception every time but that's standard at most hotels around here that I've noticed.

Fair location for spent money

The rooms were clean. Initially one of the rooms we booked has a very bad smell of cigars, but the personnel changed that room with a non-smelling one.
