The location was great, close to where we were going to for my daughter. View was great but during summer with leaves on the trees, the cabin we stayed in would not have the same view.
The bunkbeds were a bit unsteady for the 2 teenage girls.

The location was beautiful. The owner and his family were very friendly and laid back. Our dogs loved the lake and it was very safe for them
The interior was dark so we needed to keep the lights on all day. Sofa bed needed a good clean, or better again, replacing, as it looked like it was about to fall apart. The whole cabin had a rustic charm to it, but it felt like it was put together with 2nd hand odds and ends. The hot tub was nice but half of the jets were broken and it would come on all by itself randomly! Despite being told it would be repaired during our stay, it wasn't. The outdoor space could do with a refresh...a decent table beside the cabin and maybe some nice planting would make a big difference.
The owner though was lovely and his family too. But overall we felt the cabin was very expensive for what we got.. Use of the hot tub was not included, and was an extra €200 which was negotiated on arrival. The overall cost was over €1300. I appreciate that the cost of everything has gone up in Ireland but If we paid half of this I would have said that this was fair.

It gave us a place to stay in an area where we needed to be for a family occasion.
The owner Colm rang me to say booking.com and Travel nest were shafting him and he was cancelling his account with them and I would have to cancel my booking to free up the dates on his Airbnb website and pay €400 for the 2 nights. This was more than I had paid with booking.com and naturally I didn’t agree to this. Two days before our stay Colm rang me again to advise he was not honouring the booking with booking.com. After a lot of to and fro booking.com advised that my booking was being cancelled and i would be refunded my money. It was only after all this that i delved deeper into his reviews and discovered he had previously done something similar to other poor, unsuspecting customers. It was too late to find anything else nearby to book and I had to book with Colm directly and pay him €400 cash that he had asked for. He sent a young lad to pick up the money and we didn’t see him at all during our stay. I’m bewildered by all the brilliant reviews of him and the property as this was definitely not my experience! The cabin is small and should be easy to maintain but I found it to be in need of more care and attention. There wasn’t enough pillows. The sofa bed was heavily stained, the undersheet was too small for the bed and the duvet cover was only a single and looked like it had been scrumpled up and thrown into the bedding drawer. The shower tiles were mouldy. For the money he was looking for these were things that should have been done properly. Luckily I won’t need to return and am doing this review to prevent others having the same experience as us.

Came here from England for fishing on the lake and landed into trouble with a broken down vehicle. However Colm the owner helped us get recovered and was absolutely amazing throughout the whole week, helping us slip the boat onto the lake, his generosity and kindness is simply unmatched anywhere we’ve ever stayed. Colm and his wife are undoubtedly the nicest kindest people I’ve personally ever met. I’ve stayed in 5* Hotels all around the world and not received anywhere near the hospitality we got from Colm and his wife.
They are a lovely family and truly amazing people.
We come almost every year to fish the lake and stay at various places around the lake, this being the 1st time we stayed at the log cabins. And honestly we will not go anywhere else from now on. It has absolutely everything we needed and more. We stayed in the log cabin and it was spotless and had clean towels and also it was very warm all through the night. The beds were really comfortable and pillows also. Shower was really good, had all the mod cons and pots and pans etc. If you’re looking for a quiet break, fishing break, couples break, family break this place is where you need to be.

Amazing location and surrounding. Cabin was exactly what was expected in a very rual location but with all amenities. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful.
Only that was missing was more tableware but that did not affect the stay.

Gorgeous Cabin in a stunning location, spotless. Lovely kitchen with all you'd need for a self catering break. Lovely shower and good heating system.
The towel allocation needs improvement, the beds weren't very comfortable, the kids preferred the sofa bed to the bunk beds. The sofa bed was ideal as a bed but not comfortable for sitting on to watch TV.

Beautiful location . Lovely outdoor seating area with fire pit and hot tub available to use but for an additional charge . Cabin was spotless.
There was an additional charge of 50 euro to use the hot tub which wasn't clear on the booking.com site. This 50 euro was paid on arrival. There is a second cabin quite close by but fortunately our neighbours were quiet .

We stayed 2 nights with our dog. It was a very spacious cabin right on the lake so you can swim there and kayak or paddle board Great walks in the forest with our dog. Should you want a peaceful and relaxing place this is it. All cooking facilities provided . No noise . So sorry to leave Our dog loved it too Appreciated being able to stay with our dog so sad in Southern Ireland that 90 percent of accommodations dont allow dogs Cannot understand why

It's a lovely wooden cabin. Superb in fact. The lake is 200ft away and there are amazing views to be had. The local cat is so friendly too. Every opportunity it got to enter the place to sit on the couch again, it did. Wifi is great and free to use.
The hot tub (see above). The location is remote and access by car 'challenging'. The shower is tiny. If you're anorexic and short fine. If not, you'll have problems too, They don't tell you the outhouse is shared with a neighboring property they own too. Beware of phone calls from the owner charging extra's for things included in the deal price.

The location was very calm and peaceful with views over Lough Derg.
Came equipped with a log fired hot tub and laundry facilities.
Has potential to be a fantastic property! if inadequacies are addressed.
To call this property stunning is poetic licence, with exception of the bathroom it's pretty basic compared to other places we've stayed.
Lack of floor coverings, inadequate furnishings along with simple things like checking cutlery, glasses, pots & pans etc BEFORE guest's arrival let.it down.

Wonderful cabin on the lough!

Very clean inside, bed comfy, fresh fluffy towels, located absolutely gorgeous, wifi and netflix available, peaceful and the highlight was a visit from the most beautiful little cat. Cabin was so warm and cosy. Pet friendly which was a huge plus for us. Very spacious cabin. So clean inside. Fresh sheets smelt absolutely gorgeous.
Hot tub was very dirty and did not smell good at all, disappointing as we were looking forward to using it. Outdoor furniture was extremely dirty. Bin outside full. No dessert spoons or soup spoons. One wine glass, no bread knife or chopping board...facilities for "self catering" not up to standard. View of the lake could be better. Laundry room next door, very dirty and disorganised, bag of rubbish opened at the door which was also opened. Not a welcoming sight! Lead running across yard for hot tub, trip hazard and need to be careful of fraid wires. Hand soap and cleaning liquids rationed. All small things, small things make the difference tho.

it definitely is stunning! such a beautiful location so peaceful! perfect surroundings, amazing views! Garrykennedy is a gorgeous village too. we will definitely stay here again. Comfy beds, hot shower, everything you need in the kitchen. The hot tub was cool too!

Great location close enough to garrykennedy with a couple of pubs and a restaurant. No food on Monday Tuesday . But other towns are close by. Very nice property main house is at the start of the property and the cabins are down through the woods through some small roads so quite private and one is a few meters from its own little harbor , it was nice to sit and listen to the birds and watch the small fishing boats go by. Cabin was grand good enough size for a small family had a large double bed and some bunk beds. Tv and internet and a kitchen with all you need ,plus an outside gas bbq which is very handy. A small fire pit outside to relax with a fire . Has a resident cat that is very friendly and will make itself at home with you , handy to know if you've a dog that doesn't like cats. Great for dogs if they like cats it's a very safe location and our little dog had great fun sniffing through the woods and watching the swans floating by and playing with the cat. Great checkin just drove down to cabin and keys were in the door and check out the same . Met the owner and was very nice and friendly and always answers the phone if you've any questions. They have a young family too which could be nice if your going with kids.
Just unlucky that restaurant down the road was closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Stunning views across the lake. Bit of narrow road down by was easy find. Had hot tub and kids loved it.
Family of Fishers we enjoyed. Although you can't launch boat at the property there is a harbour 5 mins
back up the road.
Owner was so friendly and helpful
Great value for money
Difficulty access bank fishing but owner has taken that on board and hopes to trim back some trees in front lake for better access

We had a lovely stay. The scenic location was absolutely stunning. So peaceful and quiet, and directly on the lake - heavenly. The cabin was large and comfortable, the bed was large and comfortable, the shower was good and hot.
If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting - this place is it!
We had a lovely stay, and we would like to go back again in the future, HOWEVER, there were details that could have been SO much better!
1) The keys were left in the door for us. When we got inside everything was turned off at the switches. The place was very cold and we have to figure out how to turn everything on and get some heat going. Even the fridge was turned all the way down to 1, so it wasn't cold. Not very welcoming. If you know what time someone is coming, it would be nice to put the heat on and have things ready.
2) The listing said there would be wifi. There was a router there, and a password provided, but none of our devices could connect to it. It just said "connecting...." for all of eternity and then "avoided poor internet connection"
3) The tv wouldn't work because the remote control had been chewed by a dog.
4) There was a lovely BBQ, but it was so filthy with old grease that we couldn't use it.
5) The front door does not latch unless you lock it, it swings open again behind you. This proved quite challenging for us because of the cat that insisted on trying to push its way in - and we have a dog who was eager to eat the cat.
6) The bathroom door does not close from the inside and would swing open while you sat on the toilet.
7) The cat. It was the cutest cat in the world, BUT we brought our dogs with us and one of them hates cats. The cat mewed outside the door from 7am both mornings and would not leave. We couldn't hang out outside with the dogs, which was the point of renting a dog-friendly place. Whenever we had to take the dogs outside the cat would follow us and try to get itself killed. One of us would have to scoop it up and hold onto it while the other person took took out the dogs. What can be done about the cat? Nothing, but heads up to anyone bringing a cat-hating dog.
8) The track into the property very narrow, winding, and muddy - not ideal for some vehicles.

Well appointed and roomy log cabin within metres of Lough Derg.

booked the log cabin for 2 nights, and was not disappointed. I was looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet to get away and relax and I think I've found my new favourite place to do so. I arrived when dark but it was still easy to find, thanks to the owner. He contacted me ahead of time to sort out directions and went above and beyond to accommodate me and my puppy.
The log cabin itself was tidy, clean and had all the necessary amenities. It has free WiFi, a TV, fridge, bbq, gas cooker, microwave etc so perfect for families too. I was concerned that it would be cold ( the first night I stayed there was a big storm) but the owner assured that the heating was good and he did not lie, I actually had to get up at night to turn it down.
The log cabin was secluded and private, but still close enough to forest walks, shops, garage and take away (5 min drive into Portroe).
Not to mention that the cabin is quite literally on the banks of Lough Derg, so you have all the privacy and peacefulness you want with a lovely view all around.
I will definitely return here again and again, and I can't wait to stay during the summer and make use of the patio and bbq.
10/10 definitely recommend.

Loved the location as during Covid the cabin was so secluded this was ideal. We brought our dinghys and the property had a harbour on lough derg 10 mts away and we enjoyed sailing on lake immensely.
Needed some soup/ dessert spoons

Lovely quiet peaceful location, right on the lake. Well equipped kitchen, WiFi, large tv. Cabin is surrounded by a small woodland down a lane. Garrykennedy is the nearest town about 5 min drive. We had dinner in Larkins on Saturday evening which we really enjoyed. Dromineer is about a 15 min drive for kayaks, boat hire and the aqua splash inflatable course in the water which is great fun.
Nenagh is the closest larger town for additional amenities with all the major supermarkets. - Tesco, Dunnes, aldi, Lidl etc
Overall a great weekend. Would recommend.

Well the location can't be beaten. Overall the cabin was great, well equipped, so quiet, very close small village. Lovely little wood walks nearby.
A few things weren't up and running when we were there like running water in the bathroom for the sink and some light fixtures not installed but this was because it was just built.
