Basic and out of town, but fine for a one night stop.

Clean and with everything we needed for a one night stop. Easy to find. Food options on the same precinct. Boys loved dinner at the Tiki Bar which was pretty much next door. Great to have a small playground for kids to blow off a bit of steam after a long drive.

Out of town. On a retail park which was a bit odd. Not much around for an evening wander.

Convenient location for travellers

Air-conditioning (a boon in the hot weather). Easy access to A26. Comfortable bed. Good bedside lights. Dog friendly. Good WiFi. Great value for money if all one needs is a bed for the night in a convenient location for travel. A small supermarket next door is open seven days a week, and a boulangerie a few minutes’ walk away is open six days a week.

The location is in an off-the-beaten-track cut-price/discount shopping area. The overpowering smell of wet plaster drying out in the stairwell was off-putting. The reception wasn’t manned - one needed to use a code coming in and out of the motel, and the entrance doors were heavy, and the vestibule was tiny. Squeaking metal doors (reminiscent of The Addams Family programme in the 1960s). Parking was in the shopping area car park. (This must seem very negative. Our three-night stay in a B&B Hotel in Troyes in May had been a very good experience … although it did cost more than twice as much. We had assumed B&B Hotels would be similar, but the Cambrai one is very much a budget version. You get what you pay for … and for the price, it wasn’t that bad.)
