Paradise Found: Calamar Flats Paraty - Where Hospitality Meets Luxury!

Staying at Calamar Flats Paraty was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality by our incredible host, Roberto. The apartment itself was impeccable - spotlessly clean, spacious, and equipped with modern amenities that made our stay feel like a luxurious retreat. The pool was a refreshing oasis, perfect for cooling off in the Brazilian heat, and the comfortable beds ensured we had restful nights of sleep. The location was ideal - nestled in a peaceful area yet still close to the beach, charming bars, and a convenient supermarket. Roberto's attentiveness to our needs and his invaluable recommendations for local beaches and excursions truly enhanced our experience, making us feel like cherished members of the family. Without a doubt, Calamar Flats Paraty deserves a glowing 5-star rating!

Wonderful self-catering apartments on the outskirts of Paraty town

The owner (Roberto) is very friendly and happy to advise about things to do in the area. Breakfast wasn't included in the rental, but we knew this before booking. Nevertheless, the kitchen is well equipped with microwave, 4 flame cooking hob, small oven that also doubles as a toaster. The refrigerator / freezer were new. The owner also provided a Dolce Gusto expresso coffee machine and several coffee pods to get us started. Instant coffee, sugar were also provided. Enough plates and cutlery for 4 pax. My only request would be a proper electric kettle to boil water for making tea (the coffee maker and microwave just don't quite do the job properly) and a couple of big tea mugs or a 500ml teapot would have been perfect. The apartment has 2 flat screen TV's with mostly only Brazilian channels. WIFI seemed to work very well. 2 A/C units in the bedroom and living room. Table + 4 chairs, sofa, clothes-drying rack and there is a dedicated sink for washing clothes in the bathroom. A bar of soap is provided, but no shower gel or shampoo. The property has a private pool and 4 dedicated parking spaces in front of the building; however, there is plenty of free parking on the street opposite. The property overlooks the beach and the street has several restaurants, food kiosks, and a small supermarket, all within 5 minutes walk. Also, from the beach, it is possible to hire motor boats to the islands, kayaks, and there was even a massage tent (January 2024). The property is less than 10 minutes drive from the main carpark at the bridge into the historic part of downtown Paraty, and public parking system cost a little more than BRL $2 per hour. More about parking below.

Everything was pretty much perfect. The only comment is that the bathroom in the 2nd floor room we stayed in was a little bit small but this is just a detail. My biggest gripe has nothing to do with the property, but the public parking in Paraty. For first time visitors, it is a bit bewildering. The parking system in Paraty is not particularly efficient - instead of simply have parking meters, you have to find an employee to give you ticket and also when you leave so you can pay. They do accept credit card payment however. The same parking system applies to roadside parking but you can use the same tickets from the parking lots (where you are more likely to find parking employees). Some pharmacies and a few stores sell parking tickets. There is also a phone App that allows you to pay, but you have to have a Brazilian App store so no good for foreign visitors. There is also a WhatsApp payment system, but good luck with that, especially if you don't understand Portuguese.

Gorgeous decor within the apartment and really comfy bed. Fantastic pool. Daily cleaning and fresh towels. Dolce Gusto machine and coffee pods provided so we could enjoy a morning coffee on the balcony every morning. Fresh fruit provided. Roberto was really helpful.

The pool is amazing, great location and facilities. Easy check-in/check-out and the host was superb. Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

Wifi can be a little bit unstable (normally it works great but the internet connection in Paraty is not reliable) I missed an important meeting but I cannot blame the property itself. There's a router/access point in each room that gives you high signal quality but the internet connection is shared between other flats, which makes it a bit unstable when the property is full (nothing major if you're not travelling for work).

A Perfect Place in Paradise

This is a lovely place in an ideal location on the edge of town. Roberto the owner was very kind and very easy to get in touch with via whatsapp. The apartment is beautiful and well equipped and maintained. There is a small pool there which is great to cool off in. We loved sitting on the balcony looking at the lovely view of the sea. It really is a place in paradise!

The only thing we didn't like was leaving. We could have stayed there for a long time!

Impressed with this place and the city of Paraty

This place is super cute, had a fully equipped kitchen, well located and it was spotless clean. We were 3 adults and it was perfect for us. We had the pleasure to meet Roberto, the owner, he was very kind and gave us great tips on restaurants and places to see. We will be back for sure!

Belle petite région et appartement cosy!

Belle localisation, pas loin du centre de Paraty, réveil face à la mer, petit déjeuner à 2 minutes du logement à pied, bon petit déjeuner style buffet à volonté. Appartement propre, pas très grand, l’essentiel y est. Le personnel ne vous accueille pas mais très joignable par WhatsApp et répond à vos demandes.

La piscine n’est pas énorme mais dans ces régions là, il vaut mieux aller à la mer. Très belles plages aux alentours.

Es moderno , muy buena cama y con mosquitero que es muy necesario. Tiene estacionamiento , bien ubicado frente a la playa. Veíamos garzas y flamencos frente a nosotros.

La puerta del baño, es realmente muy incómoda. El baño es pequeño pero no importaría si la puerta fuera corredera. Te pegas todo el rato con algo por el mal diseño.
