I liked the location, the view and the pool.
I did not care for the age of the place, small lanai, price was high for size and condition of the room.

Beautiful location and the friendliest staff you can ask for. Owners of the place shone proud of their staff.
I have nothing I didn’t like or had a problem with.

The sound of the ocean waves against the sea wall at night is very soothing
The terrace where you can watch the sun set
The bedroom space was roomy and comfortable.
The parking lot is a nightmare. Somehow the hotel got approval to put in way too many parking spaces and, as a result, parking your car requires a lot of jockying.
There is no front desk. Check-in is self-serve.
No food available on property. The nearest coffee shop is a 5 minute walk down a road with no sidewalks.
No TV in the room.
The bathroom was a little tight and the shower disappointing.

Elle was so kind. The view is amazing. I'd stay again. Walking in the room and seeing the ocean, and the expanse was breathtaking the double doors opening to our lanai allowed such a beautiful breeze to flow in from the ocean. It was heavenly.
There was a plumbing problem, but the staff were courteous and timely.

I would say this is more a motel than a hotel, and I mean that in the best way. I didn't need a continental breakfast or whatever else. I wanted a view and the waves roaring me to sleep. I got all that, and a comfy bed, lovely shower, and plenty of hooks/hangers in my petite room to hang up my swim stuff. This was a fantastic home base for exploring the west side of the island, and I will definitely check here first to stay again
The parking lot is definitely tiny. When I arrived, a couple was doing their best to navigate the parking lot. They taught me to park on the street, which I did for my entire stay
This is likely my own fault cos I probably could've just asked at the front desk for more coffee, but I usually left before they were open. I would've loved a way to put my empty coffee packet outside the door like the towels to get a fresh one

Location on the ocean. Can’t beat the sound of waves crashing outside your room.
No AC. I didn’t realize this and must have missed it in the description. There were very nice ocean breezes to keep the room cooler at night but still a bit warm. Plus a large fan in room. Still a nice stay near Kona town.

The staff was not honest. We had mistakenly booked two rooms. The hotel policy was no cancellation, but when we arrived and realized our mistake, the staff said that they would only charge us for the first night and refund us the rest of the money, but they have not done that. We did not use the other room, thinking that we would be refunded that money, but we were lied to, since we were charged for both rooms and we have not received a refund. We don't know who the owner is, but the staff was not honest, and we never saw them again. Booking tried to intervene, and offered to refund their booking fee, but the staff refused.

Have visited Kona Tiki for over 30-years, have been returning for a reason.
So much has changed. While the upgrades are nice, the ambiance is gone. Sparse staff in office if ever, no Continental Breakfast (?!), that’s when you sit around the pool and meet all the other guests!
Requested the use of a rice cooker and was “denied”. WOW, not sorry, but denied.
This visit was cold, automated , extremely impersonal. Last visit.

Basic property with excellent views of sunset. Sound of the surf!
Parking can be a challenge. Bite there is no AC but you don’t really need it.

We had top floor deluxe room king with incredible ocean view. It was a great room with a kitchenette and tile floor (I hate carpet in a hotel room). The sound of the ocean from the balcony with crashing waves was awesome, so good for the soul... The best nights sleep I've had in a long time!
Parking area within the hotel area was tight, but there was ample parking on the street less than a minute walk. There was only stairs no elevator to the upper floors, but they were wide and railed - my wife and I are in our 70's and had no problem.

Loved the simplicity and the space. Fell asleep and woke up to waves crashing right outside my door. The pool was clean and gorgeous. Staff were super friendly!
No food on site but easy to walk or drive to areas close by.

It was a small quiet self-check in property right on the water. Falling asleep to the ocean waves is so relaxing. Great spot if you’re a sucker for a sunset like me, over the ocean.
Only a 20-25 minute walk down Ali’i Drive to the main hub of Kona.
Onsite, private parking as well.
If you’re the adventurous type of holiday goer, then it’s just enough for you to come back, freshen up and head out on your next adventure for the day. (No aircon, just fans provided)

This is probably one of my favorite stays ever! If the ocean were any closer the tide would be in your room! There’s no A/C and the ocean is noisy but… we absolutely loved it. Comfy bedding, okay bath, small kitchen, and super clean. We slept with screen door open and let the ocean waves crash us to sleep! And, Not too warm after sunset! But again…. the ocean…. Wow! So amazing. Would have stayed here all week. Great value. Love, love love!!!
Not a single thing.

Breakfast is not provided. The pool is great. The lanai is awesome. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The room is very crowded and does not have air conditioning. Great that there is parking but sad that the lot is small and crowded.

Ocean front
Hot water was only warm, not hot. Reception very dismissive when I reported it.
Facilities basic. Bathroom very small, floor felt dirty and sticky when barefoot, no tv or aircon, curtains didn’t close fully, one bag of coffee but no milk. Why bother supplying coffee?? And very close to a busy noisy road. A lot of nicer properties near by for the same cost.

The location was ideal ! It was just outside the busiest part of Kona and right on the ocean - loved the waves crashing onto the sea wall just outside our balcony ! There was a beautiful pool and the manager was so accommodating - offering beach chairs and towels and snorkeling gear for us to use ! The decor was so cute and beachy - great use of space in the room and bathroom -
We thought that not having air conditioning might be uncomfortable but either way the wind from the ocean , ceiling fan and stand up fan we were very comfortable !

A wonderful island experience!! The view was amazing and the sound of the waves was like a massage for the mind!
I was only able to stay one night, Hope to plan another stay in future.

The location and view were excellent and the room was very comfortable. It was a nice size and we particularly enjoyed the balcony over the ocean.
We only stayed one night, so didn't find much to dislike. We did find the walk into town a little longer than other places we have stayed. That didn't bother us, but could be a drawback if you don't like to walk. Parking in the downtown area is very expensive.

Wow! What a great little place this is. I booked the Kona Tiki Hotel last minute because the Airbnb I chose housed many spiders and bugs. When I spoke to the manager (sorry I don’t recall your name) he was so kind and reassuring that I would be sleeping bug free. He also chatted with me telling me the best beaches and places to go for a nice picnic lunch. (Hāpuna beach and stop at Waikaloa to queens island market for food). He told me about the surfers that come at high surf and more wonderful stories about the Island. As a single woman traveler, he really made me feel at home and comfortable.
The Kona Tiki Hotel is a very clean and quiet place. The bed is comfy, the shower is great and the kitchen is great. It is right on the ocean and within walking distance to a beach you can swim at. Waking up to watching the surfers and painting in the quiet of the morning was so special!!
I didn’t swim in the pool but it is clean and beautiful. All the other staff that I met were super kind. I would definitely stay here!!

It was a great location. Right on the ocean and walking distance to town. Free parking was a plus. The staff were friendly.
To be completely honest, it was not really clean like some of the reviews had reported. The place is very very dated and needs up updating. The pillows were foam and lumpy. Some of sheets and tiwels were stained. The hand soap dispenser on the sink in the bathroom was splattered with toothpaste. You could tell it has not been washed prior to our coming.

We finished our trip at this amazing vintage hotel facing the Kona coast, Kona Tiki Hotel. They brag no A/C, just beautiful tradewinds gusting in off the shoreline and NO TVs, just the sounds of crashing surf. There is a saltwater swimming pool drawn right out of the ocean. The sunsets were also a show piece here. It’s not “cheap” but it’s a delightful small find. It’s also within walking distance of a lot of eateries and attractions. Super cute place! 🥰👍🏼
I can't think of anything I found lacking.
