Very peaceful surroundings (spacious grounds, river and forest) in a quiet hamlet. The property has a long and interesting history with much original material still to be seen. We had a pleasant stay in a comfortable and spacious house.

This property is amazing. It is an old priory dating back to the 12th century. The grounds are beautiful with a river, large gardens, pool and chickens, goats and geese roaming around. It is extremely peaceful. The pool is large and very warm. The village of Nouaillé-Maupertuis is 5 minutes drive away and has a fabulous abbey, a boulangerie, a co-op and a great restaurant/bar. You can take country walks to the village and south to the village of Nieuil-l'Espoir, which is also lovely. The accommodation itself has some querks but I would recommend staying here as it is definitely one of a kind.

We fell in love with this old Priory as soon as we arrived. It was extremely peaceful. The grounds were extensive with the river running through the grounds. We particularly liked the little chapel & hope that if we return this will have been restored. Our gite was very clean & comfortable. Gilles was a good helpful host. We will go back.

Un grand dépaysement

Un grand dépaysement

A l'écart des routes et du bruit, près de Nouaillé-Maupertuis, s'élève un ancien prieuré médiéval plein de charme dont une partie a été transformée en gîte au milieu d'un vaste parc. Quatre pièces en enfilade meublées de façon atypique et chaleureuse : un séjour-salle à manger, une première chambre, une cuisine assez bien équipée (quelques manques toutefois) avec, en bout, une salle de bain et des toilettes, une deuxième chambre plus vaste. La literie est excellente, le chauffage est efficace; on se sent très vite comme chez soi. A recommander à tous les voyageurs qui préfèrent l'originalité au conformisme.

Superbe propriété très jolie avec son immense terrain, seul petit bémol c’est qu’il n’y a personne pour nous accueillir ce qui laisse place à plusieurs questions vacantes. Je recommande bien sûr cet endroit pour y passer un agréable séjour loin de la ville
