The Capitana was a little further from Old Town than we anticipated, about a 45 minute stroll, but is a roomy and pleasant venue. Our room was huge with views over the sea and pool area.
The reason I describe it as quirky is there are just no staff about after around 5pm. The desk is uncovered, there is no security to speak of and the only one we saw was in the small cafe shop and at the bar.
The staff seemed to change every day and if you asked a simple question like 'is there a happy hour' you are greeted by total surprise.
The room only had a microwave and coffee machine. Only paper cups, which you had to use for water in the coffee machine and no sink. A huge fridge with no contents.
If youve prepaid there is breakfast as part of your stay but you can't upgrade to it. However the small food unit was great with lovely salads and sandwiches.
As I say quirky.

I only spend 2 nights on this hotel. First time to key west. Love the hotel. Clean, spacious. Free parking. Everting you can ask for it. But, yes there is a But, the very comfortable mattress, comes with the worst comforter. It’s not a blanket, not a down comforter. It’s a very hard, rugged, uncomfortable sheet cover. That is my only complaint. I hope in the near future they will change to something better.
