Host & Stay - Canning Quarters

Most things tbf, lovely quiet location in a beautiful building, everything you would need for a short stay, tv is all bedrooms and I’ll add even though not listed the apartment has a hair dryer in each bedroom, kitchen has everything you need as well

Great location in the Georgian Quarter - easy walk or cab to lots of bars/pubs/restaurants and sighteeeing. Quiet. Decor nice. Beds very comfortable! Sitting room/kitchen area was fine for 5 of us.

Ice box needed defrosting as door wouldn’t shut. Would be good to have a dishwasher rather than a washing machine! Host and Stay sent at least 18 messages, often very wordy and therefore repetitive and unclear. LESS IS MORE! Nowhere else I have stayed has ever done this - it was overwhelming and would frankly be the only thing to put me off booking again.

The location was excellent and the hosts always answer messages quickly. The apartments were very nice and all the beds were comfy even the two sofa beds. Check in was really easy and parking was convenient.

The only thing we rated down about the property was the cleanliness as there was ice in the freezer that has been there a long time and it was stopping the freezer from shutting creating a smell, so the freezers just need defrosting every now and then. There was also some rubbish left in the apartment I think from the previous stay. With a deep clean these apartments would be excellent.

From the photos you can see that the apartment has an appealing aesthetic. The location in the Georgian Quarter is quaint and peaceful. A parking permit was provided and it is relatively easy to find parking on the street near the building. The bed was quite comfortable. This place would be perfect if they would do some inexpensive fixes, especially the bathroom!

Unfortunately in the 'flesh', the apartment is quite run down. A hole in the flimsy door patch-repaired but not painted and the sofa felt worn and smelly. The bathroom had bits of black mould and the silicone had completely come away along the bath, so who knows what's happening underneath with the water that will inevitably run down there. The shower also leaked badly from the device itself, and no amount of tightening fixed it, so it must be worn as well. The shower unit seems to be poor quality as it lets out ridiculously hot water (even though there are regulations against this) or won't get hot at all as the cleaner must turn the boiler off before you arrive. It took us over an hour to get hot water after turning it on. The oven had dirty things inside it, so I don't think the cleaning team do a very thorough job. You get one tea towel the size of a face cloth, and one wooden chopping board, whereas you should have a separate one for meat. Generally the building was quiet, but one night you could easily hear the upstairs neighbour walking around. Hopefully they will fix these things, but I get the impression management don't want to spend money on maintaining the properties, otherwise it wouldn't be in that condition!
