Excellent two-night stay in the Shepherd's Hut

Had an excellent two-night stay in the Shepherd's Hut. Jacquie provides a warm welcome & is very approachable & always available to help out however she can - a great host. She went above & beyond to help make it a special occasion for my girlfriend's birthday stay providing champagne, fudge, hanging banners & even writing a card 🎁 We made use of the hot tub on both nights which was a great way to relax after a long-ish drive & a busy day. There were sub-zero temperatures during our stay but the Shepherd's Hut is very warm & cosy and Jacquie provided gear (Crocs & a wearable towel/poncho) to make the dash between the hot tub & the hut bearable 😅🥶 The Hut features everything you'd need - kettle, fridge, microwave, cutlery, plates, cups, warm shower, comfortable bed, etc. The location has great views & there's a lot to do in the surrounding areas. A great base for Crichton parkrun or Queen of the South FC if you're into your football/parkrun tourism! Would recommend staying :)

Idyllic, quiet and nothing...perfection

Jacquie the host met me with a torch to guide me round which was amazing service. I needed an evening of downtime and quiet and that is what i got. Even though the wifi was super quick i chose not to log on as i felt it would have spoilt the serenity i was after. It was really warm and the duvet was super snuggly, not to big and very atmospheric. The view the next morning was breathtaking (arrived in the dark) and oh my word that fresh air was something else. Jacquie was in contact days before so never felt i was just left to it. Would i stay again?...absochuffinlutely!

A hand towel is all that was missing but no issue as there was a bath towel provided.

The host Jacquie and Dave where fantastic,very friendly and helpful,the hot tub was great,very relaxing,and the breakfast the following morning was amazing,all local produce,the views stunning and peaceful 10/10 for complete relaxation,dogs could roam around freely with it all been fenced in 🐾❤️🐾❤️

Recharging the batteries holiday

Great wee hut, fabulous views. Spotlessly clean Hot tub was a nice added bonus. Jacqueline and Dave couldn't do enough for us. Made us feel like family.

Single track road to the property so just take your time. WiFi played up on last day didn't bother us too much.

Scotland tour

First night starting our tour of Scotland and couldn’t have chosen a better location. Thank you so much for such and amazing nights stay. Jacquie is super friendly and helpful. The dogs absolutely loved the private one acre garden attached to the hut. Beautifully kept garden and hut. Such a shame it rained all evening but none the less we thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely stay again.

Welcoming relaxing stay in shepherds hut with view

Views were amazing - peace and quiet - so many birds including owl at night - hot tub was so relaxing - very dog - friendly with huge field plus patio space designed so we could leave our dog in safe space outside when we went for ginormous breakfast. AND Jacquie so friendly, welcoming and helpful is key.

Nothing that we didn’t like. Be aware - It’s a shepherd’s hut - small and perfectly formed! Bit of balancing to fit everything onto work surfaces but we had everything we needed and more.

Peaceful paradise

We had a wonderful 2 night break for my birthday. Jacquie was kind enough to leave me a birthday gift in the hut on our arrival, which was a lovely surprise. She was very attentive and such a fantastic host. The hut had everything we needed, and the views were stunning. We were lucky with the weather, so we thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the sun in the seating area all day and had a bbq both nights. The hot tub was fab too! It's a peaceful and relaxing place, I would have been happy to stay there forever, lol 😂.

A 4 day stay out of the way in Paradise.

The views were so relaxing and the accommodation was so clean and warm. The hosts were like family after only the first meeting. Would absolutely stay again and again. Hot tub was a lovely experience. Most relaxing holiday we have had for a long time, didn't want to leave. The breakfast was the best I have ever had, too.

Had a last minute night away with my son (7) and cockapoo. Really enjoyed our night away, the shepherds hut was lovely, really cosy and clean. Both Jacquie and Dave are very welcoming and gave some lovely dinner recommendations. They have completely secure garden so my dog had free reign to run around. The hut itself was decorated nicely and was very clean and warm. The hot tub can be set up with prior request and looks out to beautiful views across the fields. We were very lucky and seen lots of fireworks from the hot tub. My son was ecstatic! We didn't take up the offer for breakfast however the option is there for a small fee. The hut is quite close to the main house however it's been set up to feel quite private. Really quiet and peaceful which was great for my slightly noise reactive dog - he barley made a noise the entire time.

Dog people are my sort of people 🫡

My German Shepherd absolutely LOVED it here so much that he spent the entire night in the lovely massive shared garden living his best life. The owners are absolutely brilliant. They both put my anxiety to ease with having a bigger (reactive) dog - who didn't bark the entire time he was there due to the tranquillity of the place! Enjoyed a BBQ on the night & the hosts bought out additional cutlery to help us out along with a candle. There was a bowl of water on arrival for the dog, which was thoughtful after a long drive. The views were as welcoming as the hosts & can't wait to return. Luckily the dog left with us.. 😅

We found the bedding a little warm, & if the weather isn't great, I'd recommend maybe taking a tablet or laptop to maybe watch a film. 🙃

a relaxing weekend away

The rural location was beautiful and the hosts were lovely and helpful.

I didn’t dislike anything, the only small suggestions I have is a little TV on the wall would be good (where the mirror currently is at the foot of the bed) and appreciate the room is compact, but if you could make room a small plug in stove would be a wonderful addition (can be popped away when not in use) and a toaster :) but appreciate it’s a B&B feel so may not be what you’re going for. It wouldn’t stop me staying again it was such a lovely weekend. Just little things I felt would make it absolutely perfect.
