Cosy studio flat - great value for money, decent location for exploring the coast

Handy location for exploring this bit of the Yorkshire coast. Nice studio flat - handy kitchen and decent bathroom. Great value for what it offers. Lovely view, too, overlooking the cricket pitch.

The brick walls were crumbling around us and woke us up a few times each night as brick dust and particles fell onto and around the bed. The bricks could be varnished or stabilised better so they don't create such a mess or risk falling onto guests.

Comfortable but standards are low

Good location

Disgusting smell in the bathroom, cleaning left a lot to be desired glasses provided we’re just 3 flutes no tumblers. Basic tv no apps no way to cast to tv. Brick dust everywhere even in the bed we could sit in the evening and listen to pieces of brick dropping off the wall. Blinds all damaged Concerned that these issues had been put in reviews in 2024 and still not rectified in 2025.

Disappointing second visit

This was our second stay,we were happy to return but it wasn't as good this time as last time.

The overall cleanliness was poor, especially in the bathroom. There was a strong smell of drains and it didn't appear to have been thoroughly cleaned. There was dust.We were disappointed after having such a good stay last time. Note the dirty fan.

Lovely time away

The Apartment is lovely and has everything you need. Perfect location. Would definitely stay again. Plenty of car parking. We used the NCP queens parade for £6.50 for 24 hours. Never struggled to get a space.

It was warm in the apartment and could do with a fan. The shower is a bit of a nightmare as there is nothing to stop the water from going everywhere and it makes the bathroom super slippy.

Absolutely lovely, loved Whitby and Robin’s hood bay and enjoyed Scarborough castle.

Anchor apartment was lovely, was very clean on our arrival, well equipped and comfortable.

I don’t like to be negative as we had a great time away, but There is a tree right outside the back of the building which is very overgrown. It was very windy on our first night and the tree constantly banged on the building and window all night. We literally had hardly any sleep. Also I reported that I couldn’t turn the oven on, I was asked to email a photo of the oven and someone would get back to me with instruction of how to turn it on. Disappointingly nobody got back to us so we had to make do with the hob and microwave and had to eat out more than we planned to. We did see a cleaner in the building and asked her if she knew how to turn it on but she couldnt do it either. This however wouldn’t stop me returning.

Bed squeaked .extractor fan did not work in bathroom . Awful smell in bathroom. Tree outside of bedroom needs cutting down or trimming . Kept banging off window during the night we got no sleep on the last night .nail protruding through carpet in bedroom near bedroom window , husband stood on it did not see it , stuck in foot .

Lovely stylish appartment close to everything and easy access to the beach.

Clean, stylish and close to all amenities and attractions

Only just enough pots and pans for cooking and slightly down on glasses ( only one wine glass) if you like to cook from home. Parking is possible in the road if you pick up a disc from the local shop and then you can park outside for a couple of hours for free otherwise you do have to pay in a car park.

This is the 2 nd time we have stayed in Umpires watch apartment lovely and spacious separate bedroom. Nice and clean .

The guttering needs sorting out when it was raining during the night couldn’t sleep for the noise off the water coming out of gutters .

Great location and views

Soon as we walked in a terrible smell was coming from the bathroom drains had to keep putting disinfectant down the plug, bathroom window did not open. Living room windows did not open. Asked about parking was told we would have a scratch card for our stay to park. Only was left one for 2 days we stayed Mon-Fri had to find a car park. I messaged. Phoned and left answer phone messages about these problems and had no reply. Also radiator falling off the was in living room.

Good location. Near sea front and open air theatre. Great views over the cricket pitch.

The bathroom had a terrible smell on arrival which improved after I’d cleaned it and opened the windows for a few hours. It took 24 hours to clear completely. Kitchen was clean but lounge and bedroom could have been cleaner. Rug in lounge was dirty. Not enough glasses and only 2 forks.

The Bad

Apartment was clean and well situated. Good parking.

A sour, damp smell from the shower room permeated the whole apartment. At times it was so bad that we went out. We had tp leave the light and fan on continuously. No matter what air freshner we tried it made no difference. It was also impossible to open the window as it appeared to be secured on the outside. No fire extinguisher was provided nor was there any provision of local emergency numbers. There was no welcome pack with local amenities.

By far the dirtiest apartment we have EVER stayed in anywhere in the UK!!!

The location

On Entering the property we were pleasantly surprised, and then after we brought our luggage in we began to look around the rooms. On inspection, every room was draped in cobwebs. These were not small and had indeed been there for a number of months at least. The living room was absolutely draped in them. It was quite disgusting to have a blanket of them above the bed and even the bathroom did not escape. The bed was appalling and was the cheapest, noisiest bed ever! It must have come from a budget shop, a shoddy affair with squeaky springs and a headboard we had to put cushions behind to stop it making a noise when turning over in the night. There was a blanket at the end of the bed that had what looked like coffee stains all over it. The walls of the property were covered in stains and the bedroom wall looked like someone had spat down it. The bathroom was disgusting, again the cobwebs were everywhere. One was so large it looked like a light pull! The hand towel rail was hanging off the wall and there was dust and hair all over the floor. The worst part of the bathroom was the shower area. There was food on the walls in the shower cubicle. It looked as if someone had eaten a pizza in there. The living room/kitchen area was very dirty. There were personal items left under the sofa from the previous occupants. The kitchen walls were filthy with cobwebs everywhere. Behind the TV there were remnants from party poppers that had not been cleaned up. The walls of the living room were marked and stained badly. We contacted the property hosts who left a voicemail asking for photographs. We duly sent them and were deafened by the silence!!

Wonderful

Location was wonderful for a walk to the seafront! Entryway was tidy and well cared for. The flat itself was beautiful! Comfortable, clean and tidy, and spacious. Internet provided. The apartment felt like a home from home - definitely a cozy hideaway!

A few notes on how to use the cooker may have been handy, but we managed to figure everything out!

The bathroom could have had a shelf or two to place bathroom products and shaving items. The carpet looks tired and rucked up in places. Previous visitors the week before our stay had pointed out a couple of faulty items which had been rectified for our stay… thank you for attending to those.

Cold, pleasurable, snug.

One of the radiators didn’t work so it got quite cold, the shower wasn’t great and there were cobwebs in the bathroom. However, the rest of then property was very clean and the other facilities were really good and the overall place was really nice. Good value for money. The electric blanket was a life saver.

A lovely apartment. Needs the heating turning on before guests arrive. Needs soundproofing.

It was a lovely and spacious apartment.

It took about half an hour and two phone calls to get the code for the key lock so we had to sit in the car and wait outside in the cold and dark evening, which was very unpleasant. The heating was turned off when we arrived and it took hours to warm up, especially in the front room, so the first evening was very cold. The apartment was not soundproof at all, so the noise from the couple upstairs was very intrusive.
