loved the remote location, sadly we were only there for one night - I would love to come back and stay for a few nights to enablew me to do some of the hikes in the area - next time

We loved the quietness of the farm, the garden in front of aloe cottage and of course the hot tub! Hosts were very accommodating. It was a great experience and we would love to return!

First and foremost, the setting is magnificent with beautiful views and a spacious enclosed grass area around the property. A walk around the property and a trip to the dam was definitely worth it but it does require a car with high ground clearance. The beds were comfortable and roomy. A kolkol hottub is always a nice addition. Hot water system was great, plenty of hot water (sometimes closer to boiling) and pressure from the shower/taps was excellent for a farmhouse. Good to have both outdoor and indoor dining options depending on the weather. Braai was big but could have used a few more grids. SMEG large oven and gas hob was a definite plus. We didn't use the outdoor shower but it looked very nice.
Despite the oven/stove, the rest of the cutlery and crockery were neither enough to cater for 8 people nor of the quality you'd expect given the cost of the unit. The unit wasn't serviced at all during our stay and we spent alot of time washing up after each meal without a dishwasher. There was no curtain over the door to the outside from our bedroom at all and we had to make a plan to ensure we weren't disturbed by the light coming in. We knew and expected a bit of wildlife, critters, insects coming into our unit being on a farm, however, one thing which we didn't expect was the vast amount of bees that found their way into our unit particularly after breakfast. My son was stung which was a pity and I would avoid completely if you are allergic to bee stings. Whilst a hammock was advertised on the webpage, one wasn't provided on the property. Walls and door were pretty thin, so sound carried all over the house. Overall, it didn't feel that the cost of the unit was matched with the quality of the experience.
