Charming quirky coastal Cottage Port Ellen

Communication was excellent. Eric was friendly and provided clear directions to the property. The cottage is lovely, quaint and full of character. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, including an air fryer and washing machine. The double bed was comfortable with a thick, cosy duvet, and the bedroom also has a small smart TV. The rural location offers fantastic views while still being close to Port Ellen. Parking is convenient in the lay-by next to the cottage. Although it became chilly in the evenings, plenty of heaters and blankets were provided to keep the cottage comfortable.

Honestly, nothing! However, if you're staying for a longer period, be aware that the fridge doesn't have a freezer compartment, which may be inconvenient. The layout may not suit everyone, as the two twin bedrooms are interconnected and accessed via the bathroom, which itself is off the kitchen.

We absolutely loved the location of this cottage and the character of it.

The layout was unfortunate as the access to two bedrooms were through the bathroom - this is part of the property character.

The location had nice views, including along the 1 mile walk to Port Ellen. The heaters were very effective and the overall facilities were adequate and accurate to the description. The clothes drying rack useful for drying the clothes (as there is no dryer), and the wifi was good.

The front door window and all windows in the kitchen (which faces the front of the house) were lacking window coverings. This was not preferred, especially since the kitchen and front door were between the bathroom and main bedroom. The bathroom sink had a separate facets for hot and cold water, which was not ideal. There were some pill bugs (roly-polies) in and around the bathroom and a spider seen in the living room

Das Cottage liegt am Rand von Port Ellen. Es ist sehr geräumig und gut eingerichtet. Auch in der Küche findet sich alles, was es braucht. Die Möbel sind gut und praktisch, aber nicht hochwertig.

Das Bad war wirklich deutlich unter dem zu erwartenden Standard. Die Lage zwischen der Küche und einem der Schlafzimmer aus dem man in das zweit Schlafzimmer geht, ist zu verkraften - nur etwas unpraktisch. Der verstopfte Abfluss in der Dusche muss gesäubert werden. Dass war unangenehm, aber hoffentlich kein dauerhaftes Problem. Das Fenster schloss nicht richtig - es war also immer kalt im Bad und das Waschbecken hatte sehr heißes und kaltes Wasser (zwei Hähne) und keinen Stöpsel - auch nicht schön. Das Energiekonzept lässt uns Deutsche auch mit dem Kopf schütteln. Es waren überall mobile Heizkörper und die liefen auch schon überall, als wir anreisten. Wenn man sie ausmacht und es ist draußen kalt, kühlt auch das Haus schnell aus. Vielleicht ist Strom in Schottland sehr günstig.
