A wonderful, atmospheric cottage and gardens in a stunning location, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The whole area had a tremendous period feel to it and the old village was a bit like stepping back in time.
The host was very helpful and there was loads of information about the Dartmoor area available.
The self catering facilities were good and the location had good local shopping.
The recommended pub is the Ring of Bells but all the bars and restaurants provided a wonderful old atmosphere.

The location and the cottage itself were lovely.
However, the garden was completely neglected, full of weeds and nettles, nothing like the photos shown. The so-called “vegetable garden,” advertised as a place to pick produce, only contained nettles and brambles – suitable if you are fond of nettle tea and blackberries, which can just as easily be foraged anywhere in Devon. The games room was locked and in no state for guests, and even the dining area was overrun by weeds, with a birch tree growing through the gravel (the photos show a well-kept lawn, but in order to cut costs it has been replaced by gravel, which is not even maintained). Communication and handling of these issues were poor and condescending, which significantly diminished our holiday experience.

Lovely old character property in beautiful quiet surroundings
Some areas of property in need of maintenance but that’s what you get with a period property

The cottage itself was exactly as expected, quirky and full of character, warm with great towels
The outside space was very disappointing, overgrown with weeds and nothing like the 2019 photos

The location was beautiful and perfect for our human and dog family. We all loved the house and garden. It was completely private, calm and peaceful. Exactly what we needed to relax and get away from our hectic lives. The host was just fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. She greeted us at the property and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Will definitely return. One of the best stays we have had in the UK.
Nothing. Everything was perfect. All positive, nothing negative.

This is the most wonderful cottage! Surrounded by beautiful landscape and close to a very pretty town. Our host Diana was very kind and helpful. We'll definitely come back to enjoy this romantic place.

Fantastic location, especially if you're looking for seclusion. Our neighbours were sheep and cows and the landscape is gorgeous. The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage itself is very cute. There's a really good games room with lots of things like table tennis, badminton, quoits, darts etc.
I think for the price I paid, would have been nice to have the little things like shower gels etc. Was really looking forward to using the BBQ but there wasn't much gas left - unfortunately wasn't able to contact the owner although I know I could have contacted Fresh Escapes (but we'd already made other food plans anyway). It's not the end of the world as we generally enjoyed our getaway here
