BEST place in Abergavenny!

Host greeted me at the front door the minute I arrived, and walked me to the room. Great location just minutes from town. A tasty Breakfast is included and served between 7.30 and 9am.

Ok once I got in. Quirky place but quiet and comfortable and reasonable value for money.

Best to ask for the full-ish breakfast, which looked good - a much better deal than just asking for one or two things! Cereals juice and coffee all good. Very good tea and coffee selection in room

1. No dedicated parking. Had to park on the path for about an hour with flashers going until someone further down the road left a space. 2. Had difficulty getting in when i arrived as i think the owner was out and i had difficulty communicating with him. I didnt actually know where the owner was and his info was rather vague, and signal not good, so had to spend about 40 minutes hanging around ringing bells and trying phones etc. Very frustrating and made me a bit late for my appointment later. To avoid this, I advise travellers to ring once en route and give a definite ETA

The host (Kevin) and staff were very nice. The location was convenient enough for walking into town.

The room was very small - especially for 2 adults with luggage for a 4 week trip - and brutally hot (although it was a very warm time in Wales.)

It was a comfortable one night stay. I would used the guest house again when I visit the town.

The room was nicely decorated, light and comfortable. All necessary facilities provided. The guest house had a pleasant homely quality. The breakfast choice, quality and quantity was very good. And served in a pleasant personal way. An ideal way to start the day: I had a relatively long drive home.

Really liked my room ‘Punchbowl’, and the staff. I liked how laid back it was. The breakfast was really nice, and as a vegetarian I liked how I was accommodated for.

It was comfy and clean and close to my friend.

There was not any breakfast served. TV did not work. Never saw who I rented the room from, so could never ask anything.

Stayed last night 26th April 2025, Owner very hospitable, on arrival, even dropped us into town as both in late 60's with mobility, very disappointed as when asked what time breakfast was, he said we dont do it any more even tho it was all laid out for breakfast, advised have healready advised booking .com, we would not have paid 160.00 to just go to bed, personally think the price is very high, very disappointed in that fact, but overall as above very hospitable and friendlygill and keith stokoe

Left standing in the rain in February

I really don't like to leave a bad review, but the experience warrants it. Let's hope it was a one-off, but I won't be returning to find out. I sent my time of arrival the day before, but there was no-one answering the door when I got there. I was left standing in the rain for 20 minutes, no answer on two phone numbers provided either. Very unsettling for a lone female traveller. I returned two hours later after receiving a rather confusing callback from the host, again there was no answer at the door at first. Then I was informed there would be no breakfast (this was not evident at the time of booking). Was woken up at 5.30 by clanging noises coming from what I think was the kitchen. How ironic.

Friendly staff, quiet area, comfortable bed and a good hearty breakfast.

Some attention to details missed with cleaning including the glass water bottle in the room having mould around the stopper, the teaspoons being unclean and dust on the lamps. The room generally felt a bit dated/tired.

Overall an excellent place to spend a holiday

We were very impressed with everything. We arrived earlier than expected but this wasn’t a problem. The room was excellently and cleverly furnished. The bed was so comfortable that I had the best night’s sleep. There was everything you could want for breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely stay here again and definitely recommend it. Thank you for a great stay.
