Best to ask for the full-ish breakfast, which looked good - a much better deal than just asking for one or two things!

1. No dedicated parking. Had to park on the path for about an hour with flashers going until someone further down the road left a space.
2. Had difficulty getting in when i arrived as i think the owner was out and i had difficulty communicating with him. I didnt actually know where the owner was and his info was rather vague, and signal not good, so had to spend about 40 minutes hanging around ringing bells and trying phones etc. Very frustrating and made me a bit late for my appointment later. To avoid this, I advise travellers to ring once en route and give a definite ETA

Clean, easy parking, access to town centre.
Room was cold - only a small noisy fan heater was available. There was little more heat in the morning.
In place of the expected cooked breakfast a £10 note was left in the dining room for me. I would have appreciated if this and the accompanying note had been left under my bedroom door so that I would have known the situation as soon as I woke. It meant having to walk into Abergavenny to find breakfast. I do not like the sticky carpets and smell of stale beer in Wetherspoons; no other place in Abergavenny will provide a cooked breakfast for £10.
Given that there was a major walking challenge with 571 entrants that day I was more than surprised that it appeared I was the only person staying in The Guest House. I wondered if this, coupled with the clocks going forward, was the real reason for the lack of breakfast rather than the excuse given.
I paid £100; I regarded this as excessive for a night's stay in a rural town with the issues I experienced. I requested by email a refund of £25 for the cold and inconvenience. I did not hear from the owner.
The Guest House has some very good reviews - others must be luckier than me. However I would draw your attention to reviews on 29 December 2025, 9 November 2025, 25/26 September 2025, 13 September 2025, 10 August 2025, 28 July 2025 and others.
