Lovely, cosy cottage, ideal for a couple

Well proportioned, good design, layout and decor. Very comfortable. Liked the patio door opening on to enclosed back garden. Lovely owners live next door should you need anything - however the cottage felt very private. Rural but not remote.

Lovely cottage on the outskirts of the village, easy to find. Well equiped and modernized with lots of nice touches, perfect for couples. A small private garden included and lots of information about the local area, we spent 4 days using the cottage as a hub to explore the many beautiful sights within a short drive. Would highly recommend to anyone intending to experience the beauty of the Scottish Highlands

The owners were so very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The accommodation was like home from home. We were so happy to have meet the New Owners. There was milk, tea, coffee and biscuits complementary. Excellent place lovely and plenty to do. Thank you do much Paul and Sandy.

Above and beyond

Kelvin and and Jan were the best hosts nothing was a problem for them. We asked if we could arrive early as we were in a motorcycle and storm floris was due to hit the area. Not only could we get in early but they even cleared room in there shed for us to get the motorcycle in to keep it safe. The house was fantastic clean and tidy and a wee dram was waiting on our arrival. Once again thank you both very much. Garry and sheena.

Pleasant stay

Location was very nice, the hosts were also very very friendly!! The fenced garden was a big plus for our dogs.

the layout of the house is a wee bit strange, therefore the living room is very small. Only one small couch. The bedroom on the other hand is very large :)

Perfect position

Excellent value and position, it was perfect for us to explore northern Scotland. In one day from 9 to 5 we drove the round trip up to the northern coast and Smoo Cave before coming back. The cottage was very comfortable, and the kitchen very well equipped. I loved that there was an air fryer. Plenty of space and lovely and quiet. Excellent bathroom.

Well catered for, access to the owner's garage for our bikes was a nice touch (especially considering the weather) Welcome whiskey and snacks much appreciated after a day on the road. Lovely accommodation, well equipped with all the basics you'd need for a comfortable stay.

Brilliant stay, lovely weather, great location and achieved everything I set out to do. :)

The location was ideal for what I had planned to do - hill walking. There was a local shop, petrol station and cafe within walking distance of the property. It was peaceful, lovely views and private even the owners lived next door. It had a safe and secure garden for the dogs. The owner advised me of a walk from the house which was suitable for the dogs. :)

There was a dishwasher but no washing machine. The washing machine would have been more useful if I had been staying for longer than 4 nights. As I was a solo traveller I didn't feel a dishwasher was of use. However, there was a contact available for any laundry required doing.

A brilliant and spacious accommodation which is presented very well. Equipped with everything you should need for a short or long stay. The host was very nice and made me feel very welcome upon arrival. My two dogs also loved their stay. Thanks.

Perfect location, right in the heart of the highlands. Jan and kelvin were very accommodating. Cottage had everything you needed and more, air fryer being a personal favourite. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this area to stay here.

An amazing place in the Highlands of Scotland,located in a beautiful area for walking and seeing wildlife and a short drive from lots of attractions to see such as Loch Ness,Black Isle brewery and lots of whisky distilleries including glenmorangie. There are also plenty of beautiful nearby and if you time it right you might get to see some dolphins too. I am really looking forward to going back a again and highly recommend staying at jakel's rest the owners are so friendly and welcoming and do everything they can to make sure everyone has the best time staying with them😍.

The location is perfect. It is an easy walk to Lairg if you are reasonably fit. Great base to to tour the area. Jan was a good source for easy walks from the property. Lovely cottage with everything you need.

liked it’s central position to highlands, friendly hosts and nice views good easy one floor set up. very dog friendly. space to sit out and enjoy the views. bed was comfortable

personal taste but we would have preferred a little more extensive cooking facilities. perhaps a cooker instead of a dishwasher. we managed and enjoyed being creative with the single plug induction ring and microwave.

Jakels Rest in March

The accommodation is tastefully furnished and has everything you could think of to enjoy your stay. Hosts are really friendly and there if you need them. Really comfortable and ideally located not too far from local amenities. Very quiet and peaceful making a relaxing stay easy. Our 6 night stay was fantastic and we managed to complete the NC500. Night skies are so dark too you can see so many stars it takes your breath away. Thoroughly recommend Jakels Rest and would love to visit again in the future. Thanks Jan & Kelvin

Visited 1st Jan for 5 nights Very warm and comfortable and homely Good location to explore the Highlands . Hosts were very welcoming was greeted with homemade mince pies and some malt whisky a lovely touch also a lovely Xmas tree in the snug area. Very well equipped and nice private garden which wkukd be lovely to sit out in summer .

Fantastic 2-nights stay, very relaxing

Beautiful place, very quiet and relaxing. Bedroom very spacious, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, kitchen had everything what you need. Big bonus for an air fryer :) Owners extremely polite and welcoming. I recommend Jakels Rest and I will definitely come back in the future.
