We enjoyed the location of the apartment, right in the heart of Alfama. Many sights are within walking distance, and there are plenty of cafés and bars on the same street. Rossio Station is also nearby. The area is a little hilly, but the location is definitely worth it. We also felt very safe in the neighborhood. Our room on the lower floor was spacious and had two comfortable beds. There was also a good shower and enough space for everything we needed. The communication with the host was excellent. They always responded very quickly and were very helpful. For example, when the coffee machine and toaster stopped working, they replaced both very quickly. Check-in was also super easy and completely hassle-free. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place, especially because of its great location and the friendly, responsive host.
The main downside was the noise, especially on the weekend. Because of the location directly on the street, there was quite a lot of traffic and noise from people outside, and we could hear almost everything. The room also didn’t have a conventional window. Instead, the window was integrated into the door, which opened directly onto the street. This meant that people walking by could potentially look directly into the bedroom, which wasn’t ideal. It was also a little frustrating that the toaster and coffee machine were broken when we arrived. The host replaced them quickly, which we appreciated, but it would have been better if they had been working from the beginning. We also missed some basic kitchen essentials such as salt, sugar and cooking oil, which would have been useful to have available. The shower itself was fine, but unfortunately we did notice a few small insects crawling around in the bathroom, which was not particularly pleasant. We also felt that some kind of wardrobe, clothes rail or additional storage for hanging clothes would have been useful. This may be different in the apartments on the other floors. We had also been looking forward to the balcony and hammock shown in the photos, but it seems that these belong to one of the top-floor apartments rather than the studio apartment we booked. It might therefore be worth checking the exact apartment and its features carefully when making a reservation.

Is a great location, between the centre of Lisbon and castle and has a couple of great restaurants and bars nearby. The apartment is compact but very clean and well renovated, with facilities that would meet most people's needs. There is a small Juliet balcony so was nice to open the property up to the sun.
Be aware that the apartment is located up a steep flight of stairs, some people may struggle to carry a large suitcase up them, it was manageable for my daughter and myself though. Its a historic building and as such soundproofing between floors is lacking so could here neighbours upstairs when they were walking around with shoes on. This is pretty common, so wasn't a huge issue for us though some light sleepers may find it annoying.

Close to the town but in a quiet area
Lots of steep stairs up to apartments. Linen not the best but enough to last our stay.

The location is great, and there are some tiny but fun and lively little bars right outside the front door of the apartment. The street photo I attached is about 40 steps away from the front door of the apartment. I liked that there was a washing machine, which even though it's tiny (it fit two bath towels and two hand towels and that's it) we used it multiple times during the week. The soap dispenser isn't usable, because it's under the kitchen counter and the dispenser hits the door hinge when you open it, so we just put the soap directly on our clothes in the machine. It was very nice to have the ability to wash our clothes though, especially with how hot and sweaty it was there. The check-in/check-out was very easy, and the communication was great. This one is a like/dislike, but I ran out of room for writing my dislikes. Oops. For twenty euro per person, they offered to purchase some local food items and stock the fridge, which I thought was super great! There were three of us, so sixty euro, and we got 3 beers, but only 1 can of Coke? Some of the items were nice, but some didn't make sense, like a giant jar of olives for a one week stay. Again, I love the idea of it, and it was fun to try things that we might not have purchased in the market on our own, but we ended up wasting about half of it.
The property description is misleading, in my opinion. There are things mentioned in the amenities that were not available in our unit, and it isn't clear in the ad that only some of the units have certain amenities and some don't. It states that there is a 24-hour front desk, which insinuates that there is an area at the property where an employee is stationed at a desk. There is apparently a location 20 minutes from the apartment with an employee stationed, but there is no one at our property listed. I am sure you can get in contact with someone 24 hours a day through WhatsApp, but there is no "front desk" at the location. It also states that there is a terrace. From reading other reviews it does look like there is a terrace somewhere, but not in the top floor unit that we stayed at. That was something we were looking forward to using, but it wasn't even available to our unit. The stairs. When we opened the door for the first time, I literally laughed out loud. The door from the street has a set of stairs going straight up, with a little landing area for each of the 4 units available in this building. The stairs are seriously only a few degrees away from being a ladder. LOL They are SO steep and narrow. We only had carry-on luggage, but I could not imagine carrying a full size suitcase up that staircase, which was a total of 52 stairs. This area is super hilly with lots of stairs, and every night my heart rate monitor on my watch showed my highest energy output was when I would climb up the stairs to this unit. We travel a lot and are in our late 40s in good health. I have never seen stairs like this in my life, so please be aware that they are steep and narrow. There was an A/C unit, but the lowest it would go was 22°C/72°F which isn't super comfortable when you're sleeping in a very warm area on the top floor of a building made of concrete. We wouldn't book again.
